My friend stopped breastfeeding at 6 months and her son is a little over one years old and she still has not gotten her period. You're not alone. Just be patient.

I nursed my first for 3 months, my second for 7 with formula supplements, and didn't get my period with either of them utnil they were 10mos. Just be careful about birth control...that is how we ended up with number two! :)

Breastfeeding definately has everything to do with it. I got my first period back nine months after I delivered. Remember that even though you are not getting a regular period, you are still able to ovulate. Enjoy your baby boy.

I had a c-section June 29, 2007 and STILL haven't seen mine come back. I am still breastfeeding, though. When I went in for a check up with my OB, he said, "No one can tell you when it is going to come back." LOL. Enjoy the break. ;)

S.,
Congrats. on your new baby. Yes, nursing does affect your period. I nursed my son until he was one and my friend nursed all three of her children. Neither one of us had our period while we were nursing. I'm not sure why this is but it is normal. If you just stoped breastfeeding you should start soon.

Funny, we have the same name sort of. I am also S. D. Anyway, I had a c-section with my first, but I nursed him for 18 months. I got my period at around 8 months post partumn. You may just need to wait another month or two for your hormones to balance back out. My suggestion is, enjoy it while it lasts, but don't assume that you can't get pregnant.

I had my son vaginally on December 29th, 2004! Because I primarily breast fed him, I did not get my period back until the day before he turned 9 months. Since you have stopped breast feeding, I would expect "Aunt Flow" to arrive in the next 6-8 weeks.
