My son will be 5 months on April 3.. I was just wondering how long it takes for my period to become regular? I am on my 3rd month of birth control.. And my period is far from regular. I'll spot around the time I "should" get my period and then a couple weeks later i'll get my whole period.. It's very frustrating and i know i take a while to become regular again.. Just looking for some advice to make sure this is normal. I also get pains in my lower abdomen when i'm bleeding that feel different from period cramps I had a c-section so i dont know if that changes things?

What can I do next?

It really depends on the woman and also if you are nursing. I nursed my son (and still do). He is 24 months (I know, kinda old) and I only started to get a period a few months ago. And even that is irregular. My other friend who nursed like me got her period at 4 months. So it really depends on the woman and also what kinda of BC you are on. I am on Camilla.

I usually don't get my cycles for 9-18 months after having a baby. I had one vaginal delivery and 3 C-Sections. After my two miscarriages, I did this too. I just took a little bit of time to recover and get back to normal. Hang in there!

I'm breastfeeding and on the pill, and I have had irregular bleeding also. My son is 4 months. I've also had more painful cramps than ever. My doctor said that the cramping gets worse after each baby (this is my second) and that breastfeeding makes them worse also, I'm not sure if you're nursing. I know with my first child it took quite a while for my period to become regular, but I'm sure everyone is different. Some people don't get their period at all for a while, I always got mine right away but it doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason to it. I agree, its very frustrating.

i hae a c-section too and my first 8 periods were horrible a lot of abdominal pain,i had my period in the first and then next month between 11 day of the month and the the last day of the month it was horrible a lot of gas cramping... i start in birth control pill to regulate my periods ,i think is pretty normal after having a baby.

I had my son in Aug 09 and have not had a period yet. You didnt mention if you were breast feeding, If you breast feed you wont normally get a period until you stop.
