with breast feeding, with my son *first child*,

Yeah for a healthy baby girl!!!! I know that it should depend on breastfeeding, but since I dont breastfeed due to a medication I have to take, I start my period about 6 weeks after I have stopped bleeding from the birth (about 3-4weeks). Have a great time celebrating this wonderful time...CONGRATULATIONS!! ~A.~

CONGRATS!! Baby girls are wonderful...I have 2 girls. I have breast fed exculsivly to my 7.5 month old. I have had spotting off and on after my 'birth bleeding' stopped. It wasn't until this month I had my first 'real' period. If you breastfeed exclusivly then you may not have one for a very long time.

I don't know if it makes any difference in time if you have natural or c-section , but i had c-sections and it took about 6-8 weeks for me. I know with the first one I tried nursing for a couple of weeks and maybe thats why it seemed like it took a little longer. Although it can't be much longer then that because I got pregnant with my second when my daughter was only 2 1/2 months old. Hope this helps. Congradulations on your new baby girl! :)

Are you breastfeeding? If so, you may not have one for quite awhile. I breastfed for over 14 months, and I got my period at 12 months post partum.

I may be unusual, but mine didn't start until my son was nearly 17 months old. I nursed him exclusively for his first 6 months, then added in foods. At around 15 months we cut back to 2 nursings/day. By 16 months we were at 1 nursing/day.

I'm sure it's different for everyone. I got my period 6 months after my baby was born and I have been nursing exclusively for the past 8 months. Be warned, however, when you do get it, you will get it! Make sure you have some heavy-duty pads.

Each person is different and each pregnancy is different. Usually, for me, it was about 2 months after I stopped exclusively nursing.

I know the ob asked me if I got it at the 6wks checkup and after, I said no asked if I was breastfeeding exclusively. So, if you are not nursing, then expect it before the 6 wks checkup.

Congrats on the baby girl!

After the initial bleeding 3-4 weeks it took me 6-8 weeks. I nursed exclusivly but still had a cycle every month. I was not one of the lucky ones it stopped for. I also had a c-section but still had the initial bleeding then a cycle.

I was lucky and did not have one until 3-4months after I stopped nursing. I nursed for over a year...

I think it depends on if you're nursing or not. I pumped for my twins (neither would actually breastfeed)for the first two months, then I stopped. After I stopped, it was about a month until I got my period. So, it was when they were about 3 months old, about a month after I stopped pumping. Hope that helps!

Congratulations to you! My period started one month after I stopped breastfeeding. My baby was 8 1/2 months when I stopped nursing so it was 9 1/2 months when it started up again. It is so weird after not having a period for so long!

If you are nursing you will not get a period until you stop. then it will take a month or two after that.
