Nursing Moms: Have You Gotten Period Back for 1 Month & Then Stops Again???

Hey Moms,

Just wondering if it's normal to get your period back for one month and then stops again???

I am EXCLUSIVELY nursing our 7 1/2 month old. I got my period back in the middle of March but then it didn't come this month. I was surprised that it came back already last month because with our last, (exclusively bf for 9 months, continued to 18 months), my period only came back after he was a year old.

Just wondering if this has happened with anyone else? Thanks!

PS> We are NOT using any birth control. We would LOVE to have more children whenever God chooses to bless us!

What can I do next?

With my first daughter, period came back after about 5 mos of exclusive breastfeeding and took a few months before I was back on track every 28 days and i breastfed til 23 mos. With my second daughter, i am having similar issue. She is 15 mos and my period came back at 9 mos but has been pretty sporadic. 44 days,35 days, 27, 27, then this past one was 45 days, was a bit concerned but i think I'm chalking it up to her teething and feeding more than normal, who knows. it would be nice to get back on track considering we are happy with 2 children!!!

Might wanna take a pregnancy test!

It is completely normal to be "abnormal" right after starting up your period again. I was clockwork, but know lots of women who were very inconsistent for awhile after having kids and BF'ing.

yes, your supply and demand changes per month... so the hormones will change too. No biggie!!

I got mine back when kiddo was 17 months old. For the first few months it was hit or miss then after I think four months it was like clockwork. Has been ever since:)

I breastfed my son and at around 6 months I had a light period but then it went away and didn't come back until he was 14 months old. Then I got pregnant 2 months later :) Watch out! hehe

I breastfed my daughter until she was 13 months and then I got my period exactly one month after I completely stopped. It came again the next month (31 days later) and I was expected to get it again on the 22nd or so of April and it hasnt arrived so.... Actually my husband and I have been trying to conceive for a while and I took a few pregnancy tests and all are negative so Im assuming that my body is just getting back to normal after not having a period for 2 years straight

yes, I got a period 3 months out with my first, then again the next month, then not for a very long time (6 more months?). I was exclusively b'feeding. Same sort of weird thing with my daughter. It made it hard for us with family planning, but other than that it was okay.

With my second two kiddos I got my period about 2 weeks after my lochia stopped, despite exclusively breastfeeding. With both of them, my periods were a little off--and that's saying something; I'm generally like clockwork and have notified my doc, three times now, that I'm pregnant based on being one day late! The first time it happened with my second son, I called my doc right away--what's wrong with me!?!?! She said that because I was breastfeeding, it could be more hit or miss than usual. Now that I'm exclusively nursing #3, my 3rd period was about a week late, too.

My daughter nursed for two years and I didn't have my first period until she was 18 months. Then it was only every other month for the next 6 months. Weird but I didn't mind not having it...except I was always paranoid that I was pregnant again!

I think I got it once around the 4month time frame. I have the Mirena IUD. I don't really get my period any more. I spot maybe once 2months if any.

11months & still going (E.B.feeding)
