I have read on here a few times before about people talking about their wonky periods after pregnancy and breastfeeding but I thought I would ask in my own words to see if any of you might have had an experince close to mine. I stopped BF my DD when she was just about 13 months in January. I got my first period Feb 19th and then again Mar 22. So I assumed/expected a period around April 22nd give or take a few days and it never came. I took 3 pregnancy tests, one each the mornings of the 22nd, 23rd and the 24th and all were negative. (A little side note: my husband and I have been TTC since early Nov) so I waited a week and tested again on May 1st and still negative. When I was expecting my period I started to get really bad cramps and back pain that lasted probably about as long as my period should have just no period. Well it is now 45 days from my last period and I was just wondering if you think its my body just getting back into the swing of things or if there is any other possble ideas as to whats up and where my period is. Also the pain I was experiencing when I should have expected my period was much more intense than when I found out I was pregnant the last time. If anyone has had an experience like this ie: missed a month but not pregnant did you get your period the following month when you should have again? (More for planning purposes)

Thanks in advance

Ta Da! Well after 46 days from my last period it has finally arrived. I got my period May 7th. Not sure what these wonky dates mean but non the less at least I can stop all the "what the heck" thinking

Thank you to all that provided some thoughts, ideas and suggestions

When I bfed my first period was back to normal after 6 week pp,my 2nd didn't begin till after 3 months,my 3rd had only one when she was a few months old then afterwards none for months, then when I did get them they were every month just not consistant on the start & end days,I bfed her till she was 15 months completely bfed. After a month of stopping I did begin to have regular cycles. Now that it has been 11months from bfing her I was late this month it began on the 5th day, took test negative.During & after bfing the cycles are not always going to be regular it does take time & time is different for every woman, our hormones are not created equal.Having missed periods during the time of bfing I didn't really worry about me getting pregnant because it took having sex to become pregnant they were just missed from bfing, either a month or two then a period. If your more concerned about the pain make an appt. to get a pelvix exam, you could have the Dr.can fill in the blanks

It could be a stress component. There was a time when I didn't have a period for six months - and I had a regular cycle for years and was not having sex so definitely not pretnant. Doctor said sometimes lots of stress can impact that. After six months it returned and i've only had one other similar time. So didn't worry too much about it.

yes, when I started cycling again, I missed one, wasn't pregs. The next one came when it should have. thought that I was going to get a long reprieve form cycling d/t breast feeding. no such luck. baby was born in Oct. Aunt Flo visited in December & Jan. She skipped town in Feb. But was back in March and ever since.

You could possbily have a lingering cyst on your ovary. We all have cysts right before our periods to help protect the eggs just in case we are pregnant. Sometimes instead of those going away, they can tend to linger a bit longer causing you to have a delayed period.

I would wait it out a few more weeks... then take another test.
