No Morning Sickness?? - Sacramento,CA

When I was pregnant with my first two children (both girls) I was SO sick for at least the first 4-5 months. So much so, that my last pregnancy, I lost 30 lbs in 4 months because I couldn't keep hardly anything down. This pregnancy is SO different, as I'm about 7 weeks along, with not so much as a hiccup to throw up! A good friend of mine (older than I am with 7 kids) told me to be careful, that she had one pregnancy where she felt wonderful, and ended up losing the baby. I was just reading that morning sickness is a good sign, that is shows that the womans progesterine (sp) levels are rising properly and that the pregnancy is pretty well protected. Has anyone else had such drastic changes in pregnancies? How did it turn out?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I spoke too soon! It's not bad, but lately, at night time, usually before bedtime, I start to feel yucky! I don't know how else to explain it, other than, I feel like I have a hang over. My symptoms are getting more pronounced as well. My sense of smell is quite sensitive, emotions are running high (although my husband says I'm a breeze to deal with) and a few others. I'm having some skin/scalp issues that I'll make another request on. I am also almost certian that I'm having a boy this time (though we wont find out until he/she gets here. I love the surprise, and have done the same with my girls as well). Thanks all for your wonderful support and advice! It really helps to have somewhere to go where others experience the same things. What a wonderful "support group" mamasource is!

To A.,
I am a mother of 4 all different pregnacies. With my first 2 girls I thought I might die I was so sick like all the time for 9 months. And a friend of mine gave me an article in parenting magazine that said when your pregnate with a girl you have twice the amount of hormones which can make you more sick. Now when I was pregnate with my two sons no morning sickness, Didnt feel tired felt really good. No Morning sickness at all. Gave birth to 4 healthy beautiful children. Now are 8,6,5, and 2. My advice is to listen to your doctors and listen to your body. Enjoy not being sick because it could still be coming. Congratulations on the baby...

With all three of my pregnancies, not once did I ever have morning sickness, no nausea, no vomiting, no nothing. I know you, as well as I have, have heard that having no morning sickness means that you are at greater risk of miscarriage. I did however have all the other symptoms of pregnancy, swollen tender breasts, fatigue, frequency of urination and of course getting a bigger belly. I would say it was a blessing for me to not get sick or feel nauseated every day. I hope the best for you and congratulations!

Every pregnancy is different. I wouldn't worry.

When I was pregnant I didn't have morning sickness, well more like nausea, until I was 8 weeks along. I had a very very easy pregnancy in that regard and my daughter was born 8lbs 7oz. But if you are worried I would contact your OBGYN.

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and with my first I had a girl and had horrible morning sickness. I couldn't even keep water down! This time I have felt great. No morning sickness at all, and I found out 2 weeks ago, I'm having a boy. I have heard you get more morning sickness with girls than boys, so maybe your having a boy too!

I had a low progesterone and had to have supplements until I was 20 weeks. Vaginal suppositories. Yummy...I know. I was put on immediate bed rest and told to start the supplements right away to raise my levels. Once my levels were up, they took me off them. I would talk to your doctor and specifically ask for them to test your progesteron levels. After boosting my progesterone, I got morning sickness and it lasted until I was 5 months. My daughter was born big and healthy...all 9 and half pounds of her.

Well, first of all congratulations on your new pregnancy. I hate to be a downer, but I do want to tell you my story. When I was pregnant with my son I didn't feel any morning sickness at all! My early pregnancy symptoms were having to pee a lot and having my breasts swollen. My son was born in A. of 2005, and he was a healthy 9.5 pounds!

Then, I got pregnant again last June, and this time I did feel sick sometimes (but nothing too serious). However, I didn't have to pee a lot, and I didn't have swollen breasts. That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage on August 9 (at 10 weeks).

So, let me ask you this - do you have to pee all the time? Are your breasts swollen? Do you notice any other signs of pregnancy? If you are feeling these things, then you are probably fine. If you aren't, then you might want to talk to your doctor.
Good luck, and I hope and pray that your pregnancy will go just fine, and that you will deliver a healthy baby!!!

Hi A.,

Isn't it great that you have no morning sickness. I had severe morning sickness w/ first pregnancy and I could tell you everything that everybody was eating in my apartment complex. The smells bothered me terribly. I also lost 15 pounds before gaining anything. As soon as my morning sickness ended, I ended up w/ kidney stones, so from bad to worse.

3 1/2 years later I am pregnant agin. I had 1 1/2 hrs of morning sickness, felt great (not glowing) but better than last time. The real funny thing is my "poor" husband threw up my whole pregnancy. This is called sympathy morning sickness. I couldn't help but laugh. My second pregnancy had no complication and no miscarraige. PLease do not add extra (mental) stress to an already difficult time. Enjoy not wanting to throw up and pray that it lasts. You are still early in the pregnancy. If your prenantals vitamins bother you, try taking them as you climb into bed.

I didn't get sick one time with my daughter, never even felt sick one time. She came out a healthy 10 pounds 6 ounces. Then, with my son I did feel a sick often for the first three months, but never threw up. He was 11 pounds 5 ounces and super healthy too. Every pregnancy is different, don't let your friends experience frighten you.
Both of my pregnancies were VERY different. It could just mean that this time you are having a boy! :-)
I always say don't worry until a doctor tells you there is something to worry about when it comes to pregnancy.

Im not sure that it's really anything to worry about. When I was pregnant with my son, I had no morning sickness whatsoever. I was healthy and he was born healthy as well. Possibly you're pregnant with a boy and the hormones are different? When I was pregnant with my daughter, I was sick all the time as well. I lost 15 pounds in the first few months because I couldnt keep anything down as well. Everyone told me I was having a girl, they were all very sick with girls, never sick with boys. I'm by no circumstances a doctor but I wouldnt worry. However, if you are really worried about it, asking your doc would do no harm, right? Dont stress about it too much!
