Pregnant with No Signs at All. Am I Lucky or Should I Be Worried?

So I am probably just overthinking it, but I am getting nervous. With my DS, I had really bad morning sickness starting at about 5 weeks and my breasts hurt so badly I had to keep my bra on round the clock. This time around, I am in my 6th week and have no classic pregnancy signs at all. No sickness, no soreness... maybe a little more tired than usual, but that is hard to really measure. Am I just really lucky, or is this something I shoud be concerned about? I did have my blood work done on the 28th. I assume that would have shown if there was anything wrong at that time, right?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all. I am still extremely nervous, but it does help to hear of so many people with little or no symptoms have beautiful, healthy babies! It would be wonderful to have a girl this time. I just have to keep the faith and be thankful I can eat this time! I pretty much had to live on bread, potato, and plain pasta last time! UPDATE_ Just had a beautiful and healthy baby girl!!!

Hi J.,
Though I'm a first time mom, I would say there is NOTHING to worry about.. you are blessed!! :) Other than being EXTREMELY tired in my 1st tri, I had no morning sickness, no tender breasts, no cravings and no ill feelings towards food or any negative symptoms, and have made it to my 28th week of carrying a baby boy :) Congrats and good luck!!

Lucky! I am on my third pregnancy and each time I have been symptomless, with the exception of not having periods and being a little tired. It never seemed real to me until the first sonogram where I could see the tiny heartbeat soaring!

As far as ole wives tales, I wouldn't count on them. My first child is a girl and then I had a boy, and now I'm expecting a boy.

Congrats and Good Luck!!

I had no classic pregnancy symptoms the entire time I was pregnant except for the sore breasts. Everyone carries a baby different ways and different times.

Also, rumor is if you are carrying the baby differently, then it will be the opposite gender. I bet you'll be having a girl this time! :)

I haven't read the other posts but I am sure everyone is telling you not to worry. So let me say it too. DON'T WORRY! Every pregnancy is different. With my first the only "classical symptom" was extreme fatigue. The only reason I knew I was pregnant with my second is that my milk dried up (my first was 5 mos old) but my breasts didn't decrease in size. I didn't feel any different. I am sure everything is fine. Good luck.

I was 11 weeks pregnant with my daughter before going to the doctor to get confirmation because I had no symptoms other than being tired. When I became pregnant the second time I had all the symptoms immediately; nausea, sore breasts, exhaustion - BOTH times I had perfectly healthy GIRLS! Every pregnancy is different, so you shouldn't worry. It also doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to have the opposite sex if your symptoms are different. Best of luck to you and may you have a healthy baby!

J.,

If you are concerned, just make sure you stay in touch with your doctor. I didn't have any symptoms with both my pregnancies other than sore nipples and having to pee three times a night.
I loved being pregnant! After the first trimester I would get a huge energy boost that usually lasted until the last month or so of the pregnancy.
Keep in mind everyone is different. I had two girlfriends who got pregnant after my first daughter was born. They said I looked so happy and healthy it gave them the final conviction to go ahead and get pregnant themselves. Then they were both terribly sick with morning sickness for the first six months of their pregnancies. They would call to complain that it wasn't fair I didn't have any sickness with mine ; -)
Good luck, stay in touch with your doctor and enjoy your pregnancy.

I was like you. With my daughter, I had all the classic signs. When I got pregnant the second time, my period was late, and that was the only sign. In fact, I took a pregnancy test that showed negative, so I figured my period was just off. A week later, I still hadn't started and still didn't feel pregnant, so I took another test that also came back negative. This time, I started to worry a bit because I'd never missed a period, and I thought something might be wrong since I obviously wasn't pregnant. I had my yearly scheduled right about this time anyway, and when I went, he told me I was pregnant even before he did a test for me. Sure enough, nine months later, out popped my son! So, I suppose it could very well be true that you're carrying a girl since this pregnancy is so different. =)

I wouldnt worry yourself too much. With my son (who is almost 5 now) I didnt even know I was pregnant. We were not planning a child at the time, so he was a surprise! I was almost 10 weeks pregnant before I found out. I missed my period by 2 weeks (I actually had one period the month before that while already being pregnant) and was on the pill, so decided to take a test and it was positive. I had no morning sickness at all, very little soreness in my chest. Not everyone gets the classic signs. Good luck and best wishes on your baby.

I am to 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. I felt the same way until this morning when the nausea set it and the tiredness came! I would consider yourself lucky!
Give it a week or so and if you still have no symptoms call the doctor for reassurance
Good luck!

I know this time in your life is very emotional, but try not to think about the bad possibilities. Every pregnancy is different and you shouldn't compare it to your DS and worry about things that are different. Bloodwork can show a pregnancy has happened but can't show that you will have a healthy pregnancy. Hearing the heartbeat is a major milestone and at that point the chances of a healthy pregnancy are very good. Focus on the positive right now and try not to think about things that will give you stress, something that is not good for you or for your baby. Sending prayers!

Hi J.,

I wouldn't say you're lucky or should be worried. Every pregnancy is different. You might have morning sickness and it comes on a little late. You might get lucky and avoid it all together (I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one for you!)!! But don't be worried either way.

I didn't have morning sickness at all with my daughter (except for when I had migraines). And with my current pregnancy, I started in my 5th week and it lasted eight weeks. Ugh! :)

You are very lucky! I have had 2 pregnancies, both boys, and I was symptomless both times. I had no morning sickness, nausea, tiredness, pain, or anything. I had a couple of dizzy spells thats it. You typically do what your mom did, thats what I've figured out at least. Good luck!

This may sound like some old-wives tale silliness, but it may be b/c you are going to have a girl this time! Some of that old-school stuff has a ring of truth to it...regardless, every pregnancy is different, even with the same woman. One thing that's true for just about all pregnant moms--if we don't have anything to worry about, we'll look until we find something! LOL Relax, and enjoy the NOT throwing up your toenails every morning!

I hate to be a downer or worry you but I had no signs with 2 pregnancies and both times miscarried around 6-7 weeks.
I had the sore breasts and very hormonal with my 2 healthy pregnancies.
If you notice any spotting at all, get to your OB GYN.
I also had blood work with my pregnancies that I miscarried on and it showed I was pregnant and my HCG levels reached 1000 right before the miscarriage.
Just be very careful and call the doc to see what your HCG levels were.
Good luck and hope everything works out.

Hi J.,

Well, like I'm sure everyone has told you, every pregnancy is different. Maybe you will get lucky this time around and you won't get any morning sickness, or maybe your morning sickness won't show up until a little later in your pregnancy. I know I personally took a few pregnancy tests after I already had a positive, just because I didn't "feel" pregnant.

Good luck! C.

I know this is an old question..I don't even know if you have had your baby yet.. but I wanted to add my 2 cents. I have 5 kids. EVERY pregnancy was different. One where I threw up night and day for the whole nine months. One that I never experienced ONE sign of pregnancy. One I had nosebleeds constantly. Just all different. There is little research in this area. The cause of morning sickness is not really known. Personally, I think it has something to do with how your body chemistry reacts with the genetics of your baby. But Im not a scientist..to ME that just kind of makes sense though. Good luck, hon!

Completely normal. My first pregnancy I knew because if I brushed against my breast it hurt. Never had that with second. I had minor morning sickness and extreme immidiate hunger with first almost immediately. With our second I honestly did not know we were pregnant until I was 9 weeks along. I had absolutely no symptoms and the pregnancy test came back negative. So completely normal! Congratulations.
