Hi Moms!

I am moving to North Potomic/Gaithersburg in a week. I have never been so I would love any good info on the area for kids. I have four little ones, 6, 3 yr old twins and a 22 month old. Could you pass on good pediatricians, the right hospital to go to, preschools and any other info you think a mom should know? Thanks you!!

We are living close to Jones Lane Elementary if that makes any difference.

I have good wonderful things about Potomac Pediatrics also Shady Grove Hospital has a wonderful Pediatric Ward. My daughter was hospitalized for rotovirus about two years ago and the staff was remarkable with her and helped her every need.

Jones Ln is a good elementary school. Shady Grove Pediatrics is fabulous but I do not know if they are taking new patients. Call and see--###-###-####. They are on Shady Grove Rd. close to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
If you need daycare/preschool, those under the Academy umbrella (there are 5 or 6) are great. My child is currently at the Academy located adjacent to Stone Mill Elementary School. There is another one around the corner (Academy Hills) that is also great. Take a look at their website www.academychild.com. The preschool has been wonderful.
Good luck. You are moving to a great area with great schools and lots of stuff for kids. Anything you want will not be far from here.

I LOVE my pediatricians!! We see Dr. Stuart Taylor and the rest of the pediatricians in his practice and we love them all!! He is very well renowned and respected in this area. His office is located on Russell Avenue, close to Lakeforest Mall. He was my pediatrician growing up, and I was one of his very first patients when he opened his practice. My husband also use to see him. Their practice is very well organized and they stay very current with any new medical information. They are all very warm, very friendly doctors and I'm sure they will make you and your children feel very comfortable. They're awesome! Another practice you might want to try is Potomac Pediatrics. They are located by Shady Grove Hospital. My Mom works for them, and has nothing but fantastic praises to say about them. As far as hospitals, I think Shady Grove is your best bet pediatrically. My daughter (who is now 2 years old) had a UTI when she was 5 months old and had to be hospitalized for a few days. The nurses were GREAT with her and the whole staff was really attentive and accomodating to us. Good luck!

Hi S.,

We moved to the area from NYC about 4 months ago. A friend, who is also a physician, recommended a doctor at Montgomery County Pediatric Associates. His name is Dr. Yorck Von Conrad, MD. So far we've had a few appointments. He is very patient, listens to all questions, and answers all questions. Also has a very good demeanor. The contact information is as follows: http://www.yourkidsmd.yourmd.com//home.htm They have several offices. Here is the Falls Grove info: Rockville Office
14955 Shady Grove Road
Fallgrove Village - Suite 380
Rockville, MD 20850

Let me know if you have any more questions & good luck!! One last point, the receptionist is a little cold...

We've had good experiences with Family Healthcare Associates ###-###-####, they have two offices: 302 King Farm Blvd, Suite 130, Rockville, MD and 20528 Boland Farm Rd, Suite 104, Germantown, MD). As far as a hospital is concerned, we haven't had to use them, but we've heard Suburban is good. For after-hour care, we had good experiences with Secure Medical Care, ###-###-####, 803 Russell Ave # 1, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. This might be far for you, but our son liked Rockville Nursery School & Kindergarten, 301 Adclare Rd, Rockville, MD 20850 ###-###-####. If you just want your kids to have a little structured playtime, you might want to look into the City of Gaithersburg's Casey Community Center preschool. My youngest liked having preschool "at the barn." http://www.gaithersburgmd.gov/

Hope your move goes well!
