First question: Do any of you ladies love your doctor that you can recommend not a OB/GYN. A doctor that is a GP or has a family practice.
Second question: My stomach has been hurting like crazy. I have "episodes" where my stomach is hurting so bad- my tummy gets hard like a rock, I have weird BM, throw up and then if it gets really bad I'm will sorta of pass out for a few seconds and have a cold sweat. My mother and grandmother had thier gallbadder taken out- Do you think that's what's happening to me. As I said I have episodes of my stomach hurting for a few days then almost like nothing it will go away and I forget about it and don't go to the doctor b/c I feel fine.
So what do ya'll think????
Thanks to all of ya'll for taking time out to answer.

So What Happened?

5-8-07 Thank you ladies for your comments.
I went to the doctor today and she has schedule an Ultrasound on Sat @8am so will see what turns up.
She tells me it's either gallstones or IBS.
Again thanks for wonderful support.

Had my gallbadder remover yesterday. I'm doing well just a bit stiff and in pain. Hopefully I'll be better soon.

I go to Doctor Amy Thomas on Babcock. She's with Christus Santa Rosa. She's WONDERFUL! I always get in to see her in a timely manner. Usually the same week that I request to see her, if not the next day. She just had a baby and we talk about our kids everytime I see her. I don't know if your insurance will allow you to use that provider, but if you can, she's been excellent. She is family practice.

Have you kept track of what maybe you were eating prior to have your stomach problems? Are you also under stress during those episodes? Depending on your insurance, you may need to see a gastroenterologist. I myself have stomach problems. My GI doctor diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome. I take medicines that helps, and I also watch what I eat. It's better to see a GI doctor than a primary care physician. It's their specialty. I was seeing Dr.Guirl. He's in the medical center area. You can just look around online or in the phone book. Goodluck!

Wish I could recommend a great PCP, but I'm not all that thrilled with mine.

While I was pregnant with my second son, I had gallbladder problems. I don't recall my stomach getting hard or having "weird" BM, but I did have horrible pain, no appetite and I vomited frequently during the attacks. Like your symptoms, they disappeared after a day or so, but came back a few days later. Do you notice more problems when you eat really fatty foods? If so, your gallbladder may be the culprit, but as I'm no doctor, you really should see yours, even just to get a referral to a gastroenterologist. They can do ultrasounds to see if there is fluid around your gallbladder (which indicates poor function).

I saw Dr. Joycelyn Theard. It was easy to get in to see her as she keeps pretty late evening hours, but I did generally have to wait a while at each appointment (about an hour).

Hope you can get some answers soon!

First, if you don't mind traveling downtown, the best docs are at Christus Santa Rosa Family Practice on the same lot as the hospital. They are a Residency Program so you see the resident then the faculty doctor. I think they have expanded to the Medical Center area on Babcock. Give them a call. ###-###-####.
Next, get your butt to the doctor. I am a MA and I would think that it is your gall bladder, but my sister had similar symptoms (no passing out) and she is going to be having a total hysterectomy due to a mass on one of her ovaries. You never know, so think of your kids and go see a doctor.

I go to Dr. Manocha. He practices Internal Medicine, he's not a GP, but he's really good. He's very thorough. He works downtown at the Skinner Clinic, with my grandpa. If you do go to him, just let him know that A. Evans referred you. The number to the Skinner Clinic is ###-###-####. The good thing about the clinic is that they are equipped to do most everything right there (i.e. small invasive procedures, bloodwork, x-rays etc).
