Needing the Next Step in Car Seats

My little guy is almost 11 months and about to outgrow his height restriction on his current carseat, although he is only 19lbs.I think the next step is getting a convertable seat that can still be rear facing? We currently have a Britax Companion and I love it. I know he is safe in it even though they are kind of expensive. I would like to stay with the Britax line. I am looking at the Roundabout, Decathlon, Boulevard and the Marathon seats. Does anyone have any experience with any of these?
I have to admit I will miss the infant seat. It is so easy to just take it in somewhere when he is sleeping without distrupting him! Also when it is very cold outside we always carry him in with it to keep him warm. Doesn't look like you can do that with the convertable seats?
Any comments or experience with these seats would be great. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for the comments!! I ended up buying the Boulevard. I have a 45 minute commute through a snowy canyon so safety is a big concern. Sounds like I will really like it!

Stacy,
Hi. I got the Marathon for my first daughter and love it! I actually ended up getting one for my second child too. Now we are expecting again and I have the companion for our newest addition and I will definitly buy another marathon for him too. Hope this helps. FYI- babyuniverse.com usually has sales and offers free shipping.

Yes, you'll need a convertable seat (he should stay rear-facing until he's 20 lbs AND 1 year, but preferrably longer if possible). We have a Marathon and love it.I think all the Britax convertable seats are large, so make sure it fits in your vehicle, especially when rear facing. My favorite feature is the versa-tether. I think you'll do fine with any of the Britax seats you mentioned, it's just a matter of what features you like. Unfortunately, switching does mean taking your baby in-and-out of the car seat every time, but you get used to it.

Happy shopping!

Hi! Sorry, I'm not familiar with the seats your looking at but I really like the Evenflo Triumph. Not quite as pricey as Britax, but not a cheapy either. It rates the same as Britax on crash tests etc. It is very comfy and the recline is great, works well on those mtn. roads. Disadvantage is it's big so it's a pain in the tahookus to take to the airport! My 2 1/2 year old has always been tall for his age, he still had a nice bit of grow room in it, but we upgraded him and moved baby bro in. Anyways, just thought I'd mention it. Good luck!

We have the Marathon and love it! We have used it for a little over a year and it still looks brand new. It is so easy to transfer in and out of different cars w the LATCH system too. And I love how Britax has the best safety padding in their seats too. I can't remember the exact statistic, but it was a lot safer than other carseats. It is worth spending a little extra on the seat. In my opinion, the Marathon has a better system of tightening and loosening the straps than the other kinds of Britax. Also it has hidden pockets on each side to hide the LATCH buckles if you are traveling w the seat so they don't stick out. They are kinda big, but they fit in most cars well. We have an Escape and it works great. It is so easy to switch the height of the straps too. And I love how you can just throw the cover in the wash. As you can tell, I love it! Good luck!

I have the Marathon for my son and have loved it. We just bought the Boulevard for my 6 month old- started using it today. Love it!! She can see out the window of the car. The Boulevard seems to take up more room in the back seat of the car which is something to consider. The head rest on the Boulevard raises with a knob on the side of the seat which is so nice. From what I've seen the safety rating is even higher than the other seats. Check out www.albeebaby.com for good prices. Shipping was free if you spend $100 and they have discounted some of the Britax seats.
