Need Ideas for Husband's Birthday

Alright, mamas. I know it is way early, but my husband is turning 35 in August. He has never had a big birthday party and has really hinted around about it. He has thrown me a couple of surprise parties in the past. I really want to do one up big for him this year (that's why I'm already starting to plan). But I need some ideas. I would probably like to have it somewhere other than my house, but still invite all his friends (probably 10-15 people). Any ideas or experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!!

What can I do next?

A lake idea in August sounds like fun. Sneaky Pete's on Lake Lewisville would be fun, with the outdoor pool, beach volleyball, etc.

If he's more into sports, maybe get a group together for a Texas Rangers or Frisco Roughriders game.

S.,

I read everyone's replys, and they were all good, except for Anthony T., who suggested you treat 10-15 people to a Walt Disney World Vacation! LOL!! And while you're at it, why don't you call Donald Trump and ask him if you can rent his private jet to fly all of your husband's friends to Orlando for the weekend? Too funny!

Anyway, I like what a couple moms suggested - that you do whatever your husband loves. If it were my party, for example, I would want my husband to have my close friends over at our house, order in Mexican food, and have a game night. I love playging games like Taboo and Scattegories. That would be my kind of night. So figure out what your husband would love to do, and try to make that happen. You said you don't want it at your house, so maybe you can rent out a private room (if not too expensive) at a place like Boca de Bepo (b/c their dishes are enormous, and meant for a few people to share). If you do have a private room, you can ask your husband's friends to tell a funny story about him, and you can go around the table and have everyone say something. I have always wanted to hire a fortune teller for an evening. That would be nice if you are in a private room, to have a fortune teller come and read everyone's fortunes (again, if it's in your budget - but would definately be much, much, much cheaper than taking everyone to Disney)!

Good luck and have fun!

What does he love to do? Think about what he loves and go from there to help decide the venue. It will still be hot, so if he loves outdoor and water activities, maybe go to the lake and rent some wave runners. You can also rent space at Dave and Buster's (I went to a couple's shower at the one in Dallas and it was lots of fun!). He'll love whatever you do b/c he knows you put a lot of thought into it! Enjoy!!

for my husband's 30th b-day I did a surprise party at our house with a game theme, I had the Wii with rock band set up in one room, poker in the dining room, and the XBox in the living room. I had On The Border cater dinner and it was BYOB. Of course it was adults only and it was a huge surprise and success. He had a great time and everyone was just going room to room playing all the games and talking etc. I wanted to have darts in the garage but it was too cold to do that in December! Good luck and have fun!

If he is a big baseball fan I had the funnest party ever for my dad's 40th at the RoughRiders stadium. There are so many options from a suite, to a party deck, to just the Dallas Morning News section which I did, a pool area etc. In the Dallas Morning news section you get 20 tickets, 20 hats, 20 sets of blow up bats, cake, a present for him (usually a baseball), and everyone gets a burger or hot dog, chips, and a drink. His name is up on the jumbotron too. It was lots of fun. It was a surprise so I left everyone's tickets at will call so I didn't have to hand them out and in case someone couldn't come I just called someone else and the tickets are already there. We acted like just the family was going to the game and 6 turned into 20. It was a blast.

For my 30th, I got a group of friends together and we went to play whirly ball in Plano. It's a game you play in bumper cars in teams. Check out the site here: http://whirlyball.homestead.com/entrance.html

We had a great time - you rent the court by the hour and get a ref who keeps time and score along the way. There are 10 people on the court at a time, but the games are only 6 or 7 minutes each, so people can switch out between games if you have more than 10 people who want to play. Everyone else gets to watch all the action, so my friends who couldn't play because of back problems or pregnancy still had a blast. Check it out, and good luck with the perfect plan!
