Naperville High Schools

I went to Naperville Central (many years ago!) but I feel like Naperville Central and North are pretty comparable -- they have a longer history than the other three schools and, in my opinion, both are considered to be "great" academically.

Metea is the newest of the all the schools but, from some of my neighbors, I heard the teachers there are very motivated and their kids really love the school & faculty. I also heard the school is set up to try and keep the freshman & sophomores and more separate from the upperclassmen, juniors and seniors -- guess this was done to prevent teasing/bullying from upperclassmen. The school is "state-of-the-art" since it was just recently build.

Honestly, I don't know too much about Wabonsie so I cannot say much there.

Neuqua has been in the news quite a bit for drugs -- mostly because of the documentary that was released (by students) called "Neuqua on Drugs" -- this doesn't mean the other schools don't have any drug problems -- I'm sure they do, to a certain extent, but not as public.

Those are my thoughts :) If I had to choose a school for my kids, I'd probably move into district 203 -- historically, these schools have done well academically and when I went to school, I had the feeling the student mix was pretty diverse. Good luck with your house search!

All three of my kids went to Neuqua and really enjoyed the Grammy award winning music program, swimming, water polo, World Voices music group and many other opportunities.
I believe you will NOT be disappointed with ANY of the high schools listed above because I've had friends at work with kids in all of the local high schools.
Two of my kids ended up with partial scholarships which was good because we had three of them at college at the same time...one had music scholarship money and the other had scholarship money from having "good performance as a student".

My daughter goes to Naperville North (she will be a junior) and I really like the school (so does she). My husband's kids all went to Central, which is equally as good a school. I have been VERY happy with the schools here is District 203 - as have all the other parents I know. My daughter went to Highlands Elementary, Kennedy Jr. High and now North. They have all been fantastic. I know there are some minor drug issues at North, but not like they have had at Nequa. Naperville in general has some drug issues, but I'm sure that is everywhere to some extent. The key is to stay involved in their life without hovering. One thing about the high schools in Naperville (and all the schools to some extent)...they are big. North and Central each have around 3,000 students. They also have an enormous amount of sports, clubs and activities.

Waubonsie is a bit more diverse than the other schools. matea valley is a lot like neuqua in that it is new and wealthy families all around it. I didn't know anything about the drug thing till I read the poster below. all of them are good schools academically. if your looking for nice neighborhoods in the naperville district your definitly going to be paying buku bucks. you might want to look just a little more south and look at oswego. district 308 is phenomenal
