My Daughter Is Pt'ing, When Do I Start Teaching Her to Wipe?

My daughter is almost potty trained. She will go on her own if she is inside without being asked. I've only had boys before, so not sure how to teach her to wipe after she pees or at what age is it appropiate to start. Is it too early now, or should I wait til she's a little older? She's still using her potty chair at home.

What can I do next?

I would say you can start now but always make sure you wipe her as well, when going #2 she wont be able to do it herself until she is older but just make sure you get her clean after she goes and wipes herself, #1 isnt a big deal but #2 is you dont want to leave her dirty. So just help her until she's older! Good luck, Im working on it with my son who is 2.5 years old and he is finally ready!

It's never too early to show her how to wipe, it's also very important to teach her "front to back" to avoid infections. I find that using flushable wipes makes it easier for them.

I would start showing her right away. Even if she can't do it well, she can at least start trying. She will need a lot of practice before she will be able to wipe efficiently on her own. The sooner you have her start, the better.

Right away as soon as you start on potty chair. At first you wipe first then she gets a piece to "pretend" wipe also. Then later when she gets the hang of it she wipes first then mom or dad makes sure and all done. Sure is different than boys! Good Luck!

My daughter is a little over 2 and we started PT a few months ago. I showed her how to wipe right away. At first she didn't do a very good job and I would have to wipe her anyways. Now she's much better at it. So I would teach your daughter right now. She might not do a good job at first, but practice makes perfect.

If she's at the point where she's going on her own, she should learn how to wipe. The earlier the better and the more practice. Just know that it's a long journey to wear she'll remember every time or do a very good job. Just be sure that she is getting regular baths, etc. in order to avoid any UTIs.

My daughters learned to wipe right away. My 2 year old actually learned to wipe before she learned to pee on the potty! I always check to see how well they did it, but I think now is the best time. If she gets to into you wiping her, she'll just expect it. Good luck!
