I have a friend that is part of this group and I have met a handful of the other women through my friend. They all seem to like this group and it is very active. I don't know who runs it but I would try to get in touch again.

Hi M.,

I belong to the Farmington Area Moms Club and love it! Please go to www.farmingtonareamomsclub.org and click on "contact" to email our Membership person (I'm not her.). We would love for you to see what our group is like and welcome you to the area. We have no restrictions on where you live, taking members from all over the area. Hope we hear from you soon. Stay warm!

Hi M.,
I don't know about this moms group. I just wanted to encourage you in "finding your way" - it takes time - much longer than people think! My daughter is married and lives in upstate NY having moved from Michigan and it has been amazing how long she/we have waited for her to have friends. She now (after 3 years) has a friend that she would consider a "good friend" not just an acquaintance; and this happened randomly when she signed her daughter up for a swim class and this gal happened to be there and they hit it off! I guess we have realized you only need "one" and you add friends very slowly. Keep trying and "showing up" - eventually you will find a kindred spirit person in the bunch. But it IS hard, but over time, it gets better.

I am aware of MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) groups as being a good support place; and I think there is one at Oak Pointe church in Novi. Their website is www.mops.org

Hi M.,
No - I have not heard of the group you mentioned....however, I do have a suggestion. Have you every considered attending a MOPS group? MOPS is an acronim for Mothers of PreSchoolers; you can usually find them meeting in local churches. I Googled "MOPS' in Novi MI and got a hit....maybe you might want to check that out.
I trust that you are able to find a great group of Moms to share with.
God Bless
~K.~

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that Moms group, but I would like to recommend that you go to Meetup.com and do a search for the Plymouth Playgroup. I am part of that Moms group, and there are alot of fun activities and playdates in the Northville, Plymouth, Canton areas.

You decide what you want to attend, and it's a great way to make friends for both you and for your kids. We have a great time with it!

Hello everyone,
Farmingtonareamoms address seems to be not working. Are there any ways to contact? I am one of those desperate mom with 19 month old looking for some friends for my son. Library groups seems to be very disorganized- in and out ..and not always the same people....that makes friendship hard. My son is going to be bilingual -German.....perhaps any toddlers practicing German?

There is also a MOPS that meets at Ward church on 6 mile and haggerty. When I first moved here I used a site called playgroupusa.com. You search for playgroups in your area. Since there werent any at the time I started my own. Basically you write about yourself and who you want to be in your playgroup (as in age of kids etc) and wait for other people to respond. Within a couple of weeks I had had 4 responses and we all met up. We no longer meet now but one of the girls that responded I now consider to be a fantastic friend whom I talk to at least once a day (sometimes more!) and see probably 3 times a week!
Good Luck,
K.

Welcome to the area!

I was a member of the MOMS Club for 5 years until this past November. It's a good group with a lot of activities that will keep you as busy as you want. You can be as involved as much or as little as you want with no pressure. I only left because my oldest started kindergarten this year and between her schedule and my 2-year-olds napping schedule, I never managed to make it to any of the functions.

I hope you don't mind but I forwarded your post directly to the membership coordinator. It is very unusual for these ladies to miss anything.

If you're looking to connect with other moms I would also recommend signing the kids up for functions at the library. Check out their website.

There are some play groups at meetup.com and one of them is based in Northville. You could join them and meet moms through there.
