Mommy Clothing Exchange

Okay, here's the deal - I'm sorting throught piles of clothes that my children have outgrown and I'm clueless as to what to do with all the stuff. Last summer we had a couple of garage sales, but moved very little of the kids clothing (price .25 to $3 for the most part) and I found the garage sales to be difficult and time consuming. I'm interested in joining or starting a clothing exchange where a bunch of mommies get together - all bringing in clothing to exchange with other moms, unlikely that 2 moms would actually exchange directly of course, but I think it would all work out if there were enough variety in childrens ages and enough participants.

Do any of you know of any area clothing exchanges like mentioned above, or have any interest of joining me in my plot? I'm in the KC North area.

What can I do next?

I would be very interested in the exchange. My son is about to turn 6, and he's the oldest of all our friends, so we are constantly giving clothes away and never getting hand me downs in exchange. I am a full time student with a husband who works two jobs to support us, so I would love to find a way to save money. Why not include toys in the exchange? We would need a wide variety of ages and boys/girls so that everyone gets to switch. Please keep me updated. Feel free to e-mail me if you get a plan in action and need help. I am at 152 and Platte Purchase

Hello! I would be very intersted in participating too. I am in the northland just north of Barry Road and east of N. Oak near 152. We have 4 children, ages 16, 15, about to turn 4 and 3. Let me know what I could do to help. M.

I would love to participate, too. We are out growing clothes left and right! I have 4 kids-14, 11, 10, and 9. (No, I'm not a baby making machine, 10, and 9 are step children!) So, let me know what the plan is and I'm in! Thanks!

Hi K.

I would definitely be interested in helping you to develop a clothing exchange. I know I have a lot of clothing of my own that I would love to get rid of, too. You could even expand it from clothing to babysitting and baked goods and anything else. I know I would love to barter some babysitting time. I think it would be great to set up some sort of a co-op for KC, especially the Northland ( I live just North of Liberty Hospital). People could trade out their professional services for items or even swaps of things back and forth. Almost like a website that is basically a bulletin board for the community of wanted and unwanted things. Kind of a craigslist of sorts, but specifically geared towards moms in this area.

I've thought of it before, but never really taken it farther than that. I am a single mother of a 6 month old boy and an almost 4-year-old boy. I work outside the home two days a week and from home the rest of the time. Things are so tight for us that it's not even funny.

I would love to help you out on a project like this if you're interested.
