Pediatrician/Great General Practioner

I'm looking for a doctor for my children in the northland area, preferrably Liberty. We need one that genuinely cares about what they are doing and that the children will feel comfortable seeing.

We are having some issues with one of our children's development and would need one willing to listen to our concerns and refer us through the proper channels for evaluations and whatnot.

We've checked a few out but haven't been particularly happy with any of them so are still searching. We moved from Nebraska and from a great pediatrician so we have an idea in mind and are looking for a doctor similar in personality and practice.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all. I'm going to check Priority out after the first of the year and maybe Healthcare for children. Thank goodness for open access insurance :-) Sure makes the dreaded search a little easier.

If you have other suggestions, please, continue to share. The more options, the more likely we are to find the right one.

Dr James McDonald, Clay-Platte Medicine. ###-###-####. He is the best, I love him. He told me once when I was a new mom that you have to take care of the parent to treat the child. Everytime I visit he asks how the other children and I are doing. He takes a minute and puts down the charts and asks if I have any questions. It makes a parent feel way less rushed and I am never afraid to ask any questions. He's even told me "that's a good question". I have a daughter that has cerebral palsy and gets ot, pt and speech among all the other needs that go along and he is great. He's quick to get all paper work and referrals done for me. I have never had a problem with getting a referral and he's always quick to treat me as if I know what I am doing. His nephew also has cp. He is a pediatrician and a MD of internal medicine so he can treat both adults and children. He is located behind the Hen House on 64th Street off of I-29 and worth the drive. The other doctors in the office are great and I have no qualms about visiting them if I can't get into Dr.McDonald

I don't really know of any Pediatricians in Liberty, I can tell you DO NOT, take your child to Dr. Hertenstein. He isn't very good. He is located in Liberty, but people call him Quackenstein. I had him with my kids for a very short time. Not impressed at all.

We love Dr Beardman at Priority Care Pediatrics! I don't know, though, if they are only taking newborns at this time. They're close to 152 and North Oak.

We have the best group of doctors. I live in Liberty, but it's in North Kansas City--right off of 152 and North Oak. Priority Care Pediatrics ###-###-####. I have been to all five doctors and don't have a complaint! We primarily see Drs. Cattaneo and Grimes, but all are wonderful!

I really like Kristen Jacobs at Northland Pediatrics. It's at a medical building near NKC hospital. We go from midtown KC to see her there. My son really likes her, she doesn't rush us, she pays attention to development (unlike our previous ped), and she is young, so she is a little more informed about the latest medical advances.

Dr. Kurt Metzl of Cradle thru College Care or C3. We also love Dr. Peirson in the same practice.

I live in the Liberty area also but I have yet to find a great pediatrician in Liberty. But I have a WONDERFUL pediatrician that is located right off 152 and North Oak. Not very far at all, and totally worth it. His name is Scott Rogers and he's with Priority Care Pediatrics. The number is ###-###-####. I have 3 kids, and I'm also in healthcare. I have seen almost 10 peds here in KC and this guy blows me away. He is sweet, soft spoken, genuine, caring, very approachable. He will sit with you and listen to your concerns, and do whatever it takes to figure out what needs to be done. He has even called me at home to check on my daughter. He's wonderful. If you go, tell him S. Miranda sent you. Please let me know if you go and if you had a GREAT experience!!

We use Healthcare for Children. All of the doctors in the office are wonderful with making you feel that your questions and concerns really matter. I would never go anywhere else. I actually went to one of the doctors when I was little. He is wonderful!!!! My youngest was having seizure episodes and they were great with sending us places and recommending what to do next. Like I said before, I would never go anywhere else.

L.,

We use Healthcare for Children off of 152. They are located behind Corner Cafe, by the new JCPennys. They are great. When I delivered my daughter at Liberty Hospital, I chose them. We have had problems with my 2 year daughter from eye infections that needed surgery to rotovirus that she was hospitalized for. They are so great to both my 8 year old and 2 year old. 95% of the time that I need a rush appointment that day, they get me in. The doctors are so caring and good to my kids. They check them to make sure they are on mark and make suggestions of what we can do to help their development along. My friend even goes to them now. Her son has a hip displacement and they sent him to a physical therapist that is great. I am truly happy with them and always recommend them to everyone. Dr. Hertenstein is the main doctor with Melanie and Paul Lively. There are a few new ones, but I have forgetten their names. ###-###-####
