I am also a military wife with little ones at home. There is so much available here in ABQ! At the Biopark they offer once a week mom and me classes for your kids 2-5. Also the Museum of NAtural History offers these types of classes also. Have you been to Expora? On Monday mornings they open early just for toddlers. So fun! It is so much more affordable to just buy a year membership to the biopark, Natural hisory museum and explora. By the way, the Biopark is the zoo and the aquarium. Also, the West Mesa Aquatic Center has a great indoor pool for kids. They are open year round and on Sundays kids are free. There is so much more...just go to the city of ABQ website cabq.gov and click on "for kids" and you'll find lots to do. Also, when the weather isn't optimal I often take my kids to the dollar movie at coors and paseo (Movies West) they almost always have a kid flick going. Log onto fandango.com and enter your zipcode and you'll see their listings. I'm a military wife and mom to three girls. Also, I work part time, I'm a nurse.

I have a 3 year old and she has tried several different activities. Right now she in Little Gym. It's an hour long class and I wait outside in the lobby for her. Now that they are 3, every class will be without parents. Little hard for my daughter to adjust to, but she finally understands. We have also tried Dance (Dance Dimmentions), Gymnastics (G Force), soccer and swimming lessons in the summer. Of course all of these cost money, but I also am a SAHM, and they have been reasonably priced for our budget. As far as preschools, the ones I have looked at are very expensive. So I have decided to teach my daugher at home until she is 4. It seems like the 4 year old preschool programs are a little more reasonable and they actually go for 4 days a week. I am sure there are more activities out there for 3 year olds, but those are just the ones that I have tried. Hope this helps!

Hi K.,

I work at a preschool called Kids Under Construction. We have a summer program starting in June. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-12. The kids need to be potty trained. If your little one isn't potty trained I can reccommend a class starting in the fall. The tuition is $150 (I believe), but you can get state assistance and just pay a co-pay depending on your income. If you have any questions please feel free to call me. ###-###-#### is my work number. You can ask for me (D.) or the director (Terri).
Good Luck!
D.

Yes, there are lots of things to do with a 3 yr old here in ABQ, but you're looking for a preschool type setting - right? This isn't quite preschool (depends on what you want it for), but Asbury Methodist Church (Candelaria & Eubank-ish) has a "Mother's Day Out" program that runs Monday, Wednesday & Friday. It's drop off & I think I remember that it's $12 for 3.5 hrs. -- any 3.5 hrs between 9-4 & $22 for the whole day. One time $5 registration fee. They play outside, have story/song time, naps if needed, arts/crafts. It's run by "grandma's" & came highly recommended by a few people I know. That's all I know for basically free & it's so flexible too.
