I want to take my two-year-old twin boys in for their first haircut, and I'm looking for some recommendations. Also, any ideas on how to make it less scary for my kids would be appreciated (my boys are kind of shy). Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for the recommendations and advice! Based on the responses, I will take my boys to Pigtails and Crewcuts. Hopefully it will be fun and not-too-scary experience for them!

I took my toddler to Pigtail and Crewcuts for his first haircut, and he really enjoyed it. There is one on south Broadway in the Merrillville/Crown Point area by the new Stracks. They are kind of high in price, but for the first cut it was well worth it. They have the different types of vehicles for the child to choose to sit in, and the child can pick out a video to watch during the cut which seems to be very helpful. They also have a "first cut" package where they save a lock of hair and take a keepsake picture. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi,

I don't have advice on where to go, although I do know on Broadway in CP by the new Stracks is a kids place. I take my kids to the salon I go to and my son (19 mos.) had his first haircut a month ago. He did great, he did not want to sit, but I handed him a sucker and he did it! So, hopefully some one can suggest a place to go for you.

I just wanted to say a lot of kids are scared at the word "haircut" and you should say trim or something. They know cut usually means a boo boo, and that scares them.

Good luck, and take pictures! :)

A.,

We took our son at 18 months to Pigtail and crew cuts. He loved sitting in a jeep and being able to watch Elmo. Plus there was plenty of room if you want to stand next to him and take your own pictures. We went to the one in Dyer near the hospital.
