Hello everyone! I am looking to extend my network - I have been putting off finding new friends for far too long! I could really benefit from a group of close girlfriends. My problem is that it seems to be harder now to make friends than it used to be! I also feel that I am much younger than most of my children's friend's parents so there is a bit of a generation gap there. I have recently made a terrific friend (hey MG!) but really would like a couple more. Any advice that does not involve "mom groups" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea to me. One of the biggest reasons I don't join a "moms" group is because it is such a commitment. With 2 boys, plus I watch other kids during the week, I can't always make it to things. I would love to get coffee sometime.

There's a women's group that meets at the Blythefield Country Club every second Thursday of the month called Women's Connection. It's for women of all ages and positions in life. It meets for brunch from 9:00am-11:00am. There's a feature of some sort...ie. a fashion show, an expert in a field, or a fun activity like a spa day and then an inspirational speaker. The women are very friendly, real and looking to make new friendships as well. Give them a try. The next brunch is next week, April 10th. Email ____@____.com for more info or to make reservations. I think everyone would enjoy it. I think they are looking to start another group in the Cascade area in the future, but until then, give them a try. There is free childcare with reservations. All you have to do is start showing yourself friendly to people as you are out-and-about. Networking is key and also getting involved in your community will help you as well. Do you go to church anywhere? If so, get involved in your church. Are you a part of a civic or women's groupp> If not then get involved in one. These will be some ways in which you are able to meet people and hopefully become friends with them.
Most of all M. be comfortable with who you are and don't worry about having a whole lot of friends. You only want people around who like you for you, not for what they caget from you. You will be just fine because you are used to this.
You just desire to not be by yourself all of the time.
