I want to start looking into good mothers-day-out program in our neighborhood but don't know where to begin. I'd appreciate any comments of places you are currently enrolled or you've been to. Both positives and negatives. Also, I want to know about North Hills Private School and how much the tuition is. I know it's early to think of schools for my 1 1/2 year old but I want to start my researches. Thank you in advance!

What can I do next?

Both my kids went to Woodhaven Presbyterian Pre-school and Parents Day Out. It's near the corner of Northgate & O'Connor. I loved it, so did my kids. North Hills is a charter school not private, so no tuition!! They do a lottery to get it. You have to call the school to see when they start accepting applications for the next year. We tried for my daughter, but she didn't even make the 25 person waiting list! I have a friend whose kids are there & they like it a lot. Another option... Farine & Brandenburg Elementary schools have a dual language program that is amazing. Both my kids are part of it & my daughter (now in 2nd grade) is speaking spanish very well. It's an immersion 50/50 program where the kids alternate classrooms between an English only then Spanish only classrooms. They have a meeting to explain the program in detail during the year, you can call the school to get more information. My kids are at Farine. I can't brag about it enough. Good luck!

Check out Woodhaven (at O'Connor and Northgate) First United Methodist (downtown Irving) or First Baptist (downtown Irving)

North Hills does not have tuition, it is a charter school.

Hello! I don't know about any mother's day out programs in Irving so sorry about not being able ot help with that. I have done some research about North Hills though. I, too, want my daughter to attend there when its time. She is 3 and I contacted the school directly. It has such a great rating and is supposed to be an exemplary school. It is a Charter school so it is free, like a public school. They base their admissions solely on a lottery system. There is no way to guarantee that your child can get in. The admissions person said you put your name on a list and they just pick 'like a lottery system' who gets in and who doesn't. They only have a few open slots each year too so I hear its tough to get them in. Hope that helps.

My son was very, very happy at the MDO at First Baptist church in downtown Irving (and he had severe attachment issues.) They were so patient with his transition from home to 'school'. Kindergarten would have been a disaster without their intervention. The one at Plymouth Park Baptist is also well run and highly regarded. North Hills school is excellent, but get your name on the list well ahead of time, as there can be quite a waiting list. It's fast-paced, competitive, and so can be stressful for kids.
