My 10 year old daughter wants to take a cooking class with me. I am having a hard time finding a class that is suitable for both children and adults. Also, if anyone has information on a class just for kids, that'd be great also. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

I know the Buehler YMCA in Palatine offers cooking classes and even a cooking camp this summer for kids. I have not enrolled my kids in the program so I can't say if the classes are any good or not, but you might want to look into it.

Check in your park district for over the summer things to do.Also, check in the school districts summer cources. Good luck. You sound like a super mom. Not many do things like this with their children now a days. Cudos!

Hi M.,

You might want to check out Simply Homemade. They have locations in Crystal Lake and Schaumburg. It is a meal preparation service. Kids 10 and up are welcome to attend sessions to help mom assemble food. Last summer they ran kids cooking classes at the Crystal Lake location. The website is www.simply-homemade.com.

Isn't there a place in Arlington Heights on AH road just south of the railroad tracks that you can come in and prepare 10 meals for the family? You and your daughter could do that together. I was going to check it out myself but forgot the name. I know exactly where it is so if you want to email me back, I can tell you. I live in MP too!

I know Bartlett Park District has cooking classes. Some are just 1 day others are 1 day a week for 5 weeks. Check your local or nearby park district for information. If they don't offer it, suggest it as our classes are usually full.
Good luck~
