Summer School for My 4 Year Old

Woodstock Rec. Center has a playground program for little ones every morning. They do a lot of fun events but that does not include swimming lesson. They do offer swimming lessons in the morning but they swimming lesson usually last only an hour and you need to stay there. The Play ground program is a drop off program. I think it is 4 days a week. My son did this program when he was little and he just loved it. They have scheduled activities each day. They children are divided up by age. They have the same group leaders every day so they children feel comfortable.

I think you can also sign up for private swimming lessons right at the Rec. Center if you can not do the regular swimming lessons. I know they offer mom and tot swimming classes also. Where you go in the water with you child. Not sure what age.
I know the YMCA also offers a program but I am not a member there so I can not really help you with that.

The Centre in Elgin has swim lessons. My 4 year old son is actually taking swim lessons there now. This session will end May 24. I would imagine that sign up for the next session will start prior to that date . Residents get to sign up first then non-residents. I would call {###-###-####} there and find out when the first day for non-resident registration is and be there that day. I signed up for this session on the first day for non-residents and a lot of the classes were full.
Also, Summit Center on McLean in Elgin has summer pre-school programs.

Check out Lifetime Fitness... they have some summer classes for little ones and I don't think you have to be a member to sign up (could be wrong, but worth checking into)

Not sure of the summer school situation, however, for swim lessons, have you tried the Algonquin pool? My son is a lifeguard and swim instructor at the pool. They do a very good job. The pool also has a zero depth play area. The kids seem to have fun. I also am a mother of 3 boys!!

Have you looked at the summer camps that are offered through the park districts? Huntley has a nice one for 3-5 year olds that is half day. I signed my son up for one through the Crystal Lake park district. All the park districts around have options for various lengths of time. My son takes swim lessons through Dolphin Swim Club and we love it. He is learning so fast. www.dolphinswimclub.com

The Marengo Park District gives swimming lessons in the summer. My daughter took them last year and the teachers were very good with the children and it wasn't congested at all. I believe there are 3 different sessions. There is also a maximum number that they will allow in each class.
