Looking for Dance/Gymnastics for Our 3 Year Old

My daughter is 3 and has always loved to dance, we've discussed putting her in dance classes for a while now. In light of the olympics, she's also been so intrigued by the gymnasts.. "mama, I can do THAT!". I'd love to find some classes for her. We are in the Valrico area, but I'm not opposed to going anywhere in the Tampa area to find the right fit.

What can I do next?

My 8 yo boy and 3 yo girl both go to Brandon School of Dance Arts for dance classes. They also have Acrobatics. The Combo classes for the 3 year olds are Acrobatics, Ballet, and Tap. The little girls love it! My boy is taking the Boy's Dance class and loves it too. The school is on Parsons Ave., just south of MLK, in Seffner. We drive all the way from Gibsonton for it.

Yes, Tampa Gym and Dance (city of Tampa program) is good and inexpensive but I"m partial to the Patel Conservatory (Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.) One nice thing is the variety - so many kinds of dance, music, theater, etc. They offer classes for pre-K3 through adults. www.patelconservatory.org
Good luck!

Dance and Gymnastics are fine but be careful that you don't get her into a place that pushes them to hard. I have seen several children seriously injured from these types of classes. Especially starting at such a young age. Talk to the instructors and find out what their rules are and what they expect out of your child. Her safety is more important then anything else.

there is a dance place in fishhawk that I heard was very good. But I can not remember the name, I will call my friend that told me about it, and email you back. By the way what business do you own? I live in dover, not far from you, my kids are 3 1/2 years old, boy and girl.

thanks,
M. gee

The Temple Terrace Recreation center is one stop for both! There may be somewhere closer but I can tell you it is very professional and there would be lots of other amenities as well.

The City of Tampa has a GREAT program with dance and gymnastics. They have two locations one at Wayne Papy in Seminole Heights (on Florida & Sligh) or in New Tampa. You can check the City of Tampa website for more info.
