I am looking for somewhere in the south St. Louis City area to take my 3 year old daughter for dance lessons. I would like her to receive a variety of lessons, not just ballet or tap. I am willing ot go as far as Crestwood or South County.

Hi, D.! I live in South County but make the trip into the city to go to Virginia Dorothy Dance Studio at 5850 Macklind ###-###-####). It is the dance studio that I went to when I was little and I wouldn't send my children anywhere else. They actually teach kids the proper dance steps plus the terminology. The recital is coming up this weekend at Affton High School and friends and family that have come are impressed with how profession everything is. I highly recommend it. Both my children (8yo daughter and 6yo son) have been attending since they were 3 and love it! Good luck to you:-)

When my daughter was 3 we signed her up for Ballet at Coca, a wonderful school, but a bit pricy. Then we found Virgina Dorothy Dance Studio, on Macland, in South City!
My daughter went there till 1st grade, when she decided she wanted to do other things.
Anyway, the studio is run by Miss Audrey, who is sort of strict, very old fashioned. The girls meet once a week, I think for two hours, they do ballet, and tap, and have snack, and was $35 a week.MUCH less than Coca! And they close in late June and re-open in September.
It was a good experiance for Lydia, and she mmade lots of friends, and if I remember correctly,it was hard for me to find a dance studio that was close, and would take my young 3 year old.
The address is 5850 Macklind, phone ###-###-####

Good luck!

Leaping Lizzards is in south st. louis city I think - my cousin teaches there. A dance studio that I highly recommend is Denoyer but it is very close to Arnold off of 61/67 - I went there as a child until I was a teenager. I have also recently taken classes at Dance Productions, but this is also in Arnold. Good luck to you and your daughter!

Studio C in South County is a wonderful place. My 6 year old daughter has been dancing there since she was 3. They have a very nicely done recital every June (this year's is next week as a matter of fact). It is located in the Schnucks shopping center at I-55 and Butler Hill. (Easy access to South City)

I work at the South County Family YMCA. They have a great small program starting with three year olds. It is reasonably priced and has some wonderful teachers. It is located off Tesson Ferry just south of 270. You don't have to be a memeber to participate. Ask for Jen Coelman and she can fill you in on the details.

I would strongly recommend Virginia Dorothy Dance studio on Macklind. They have a wonderful preschool program with a teacher and piano player. They not only learn dance, but also manners and Kdg. readiness skills. The school is like taking a step back in time and both my daughters and my niece and several of our friends have been taking there for years.

Check out Leaping Lizards on Landsdowne just west of Jamieson next to Lindenwood Pharmacy. Or, if you are willing to go to Fenton - try Dance Art - it's off of 141 just south of 44. Good luck.

I've been thinking about taking my daughter to Caston's. Anyone tried them? http://www.castonballet.com/ClassDescriptions1.html
(mostly ballet). They are in Webster Groves.

Have you looked into Concordia Turner's? It is on Gravios by Holly Hills. (Right next to the old blockbuster.) They offer dances class, gymnastics classes, martial arts, and swimming classes. Our family belongs and it is such a good deal for a family membership. We pay only membership and all classes are included for the entire family.

Studio C in South County is wonderful. It is at the Butler Hill exit right next door to Schnucks.
