Looking for a LEGITIMATE Way to Make Money from Home

So, I'm sort of scared to put this on here, because I'm afraid what I might get. (I've been doing a lot of Google-ing on the internet) But, I want to know if anyone knows of a legitimate job from home out there that's NOT A SCAM. Maybe this is trying to find an easy way out, but I'm getting sick of working late nights at a restaurant. Plus, even though I feel fortunate that we haven't had to do daycare, I want to be able to spend more time being a parent with my husband rather than taking turns.
I want to be able to provide more for my family without being sucked into some "get rich" scam. Is this too much to ask??

Hi J.-
I'll keep it simple.
I do a home business too-- also in part because with twins I wanted to be more of their mom as my career is on call in the medical field. So I do both Part time.
The business I do is flexible and PT or FT. None are "get rich" unless you define becoming more than you are "rich".
Listen to a call- if you want to know more -- email me or give me a call.
You can dial it toll free 1-800-642-1687 The pass code is 5104-0665.

Try going through a temporary or placement agency. officeteam, westaff, corestaff, etc... They may have companies requesting work from home data entry/admin type jobs. That would be the most ligitimate place to start. Best Wishes!

I did a ton of research on this last year and this is a reputable work-from-home jobs board. They vet all their posters: no scams, no MLMs, just actual jobs for actual companies for which you get paid for the hours you work. They are very realistic: you are not going to get rich from any of these jobs, it will take a month to six weeks to find a job, you will submit your resume to a number of different employers, some will respond, some will not, but in a reasonable period of time you should find a job that is a good match. It took me three weeks. There is a small charge for a "lifetime membership" to the jobs board (around $25, if I recall) but it was totally worthwhile. I'd spend that much paying a babysitter for me to go out for a single job interview.

The job I found: I work for a consulting company, doing quality control for a major search engine. I log onto a website and work whenever I want, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They ask that I work between 10-20 hours a week. I am paid $15/hour. I am not selling ANYTHING. I am evaluating queries and results based on detailed criteria.

Honestly, with a 5-year-old in half-day kindergarten and an 18 month old, getting 10 hours a week in just about kills me, and a lot of it is late at night, and my husband and I do end up "taking turns" quite a bit, especially on the weekends. That said, I do not have any child care costs, and I manage to earn around $500/month.

This has been a really good solution for our family, but it is certainly not magic - there are challenges, just like any other job, in balancing work time and family time and parenting responsibilities.

Good luck in your job search, I hope you find something that works for you and for your family!

Jen,
What do you like to do? Any kind of job- whether in the home, or out of the home, is going to take your time. There are a lot of great companies that offer options for selling things online. I wanted something that was kid-friendly to help bring in some needed cash, so two years ago I heard about Barefoot Books and decided to start my own business. I have a free website so I can market my books online, and I can also choose to do some local events during the week or on the weekend. It's very flexible, which is what I really appreciate, and I like that I'm working for myself, so I can work as much or as little as I'd like to. I also love making a difference by selling beautiful children's books and promoting literacy.

So, it's up to you. Consider what you are passionate about, because if you do not have passion for it, you will probably not be very successful at it. And also consider that most businesses cost at least something to get started, but if you set some goals and are willing to put in some effort, you can be very successful. This past year, thanks to Barefoot Books, in addition to my usual commission, I also won a Flip video recorder, $3000 in bonus money, an iTouch and also had the honor of going to France for a week. There are a lot of great perks out there for those that are motivated.

Good luck in finding your passion!

Greetings Jen, I know what you mean about scam jobs because i ran into a few before i found this home based job. I have found this company to be honest and have integrity. I am a melaleuca marketing executive 11 and I am able to be at home with my family & make an income too. The company is listed with the BBB AND IT'S 100% LEGITIMATE.There is no selling, you shop and save while sharing your experience with these natural products, the products are delivered to your door! There is, however a small investment. But don't let that stop you because the products are risk free and guaranteed and it does not require you to invest any additional money outside of your budget. It is a great opportunity; to learn the details of the company and the great opportunities. Go to www.melaleuca.com/DeliveringWellness put in this code melaleuca. THEN CALL ME ###-###-#### OR EMAIL ME ____@____.com. I will be honored to have you on my team!.

It sounds like you are getting a lot of great ideas. The best way I know to work from home and make a good income is to work in the network marketing industry. There are many different companies that you can choose and some of those suggestions are below. The company I chose is Arbonne and I have been extremely happy with that decision. It has been life changing. If you are interested, I would be happy to discuss this with you further. I would suggest you talk to a few people and get find out what is a good fit for you. In the mean time, here is my story and my phone if you are interested.

Have you ever read Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki? Amazing book and author. He is a multi millionaire that worked his way to the top and he gives some incredible advice. Worth the read while trying to figure out what you might like to do.
Of course I took his advice and found a company that I can stand behind and be very proud of in sharing. Helping people is something I always wanted to do (thus the reason I went back to school to become a nurse...long story...I didn't finish schooling). lol.
Best wishes to you in finding something that works for you.
Blessings,
L.

Jen,
Don't be afraid of the "scams." Anything that sounds interesting to you can be easily checked out on the internet. Just do your research and don't forget about the better business bureau.

You want to ask lots of questions so I would suggest you sit down and figure out just what would make sense for you.

What have you done in the past? Did you like it or not? Where do your interests lie? How many hours and at what time of the day do you want to work from home? Do you need something where you are making good money right away or do you have time to build?
Can you work with kids in the room or do you need quiet? Do you wanna work for someone else or for yourself?

I'm an Independent Shaklee Distributor. This may or may not be something that is a good fit for you. I'd be glad to talk to you. Visit my website and look at what Shaklee is all about and contact me if you want to consider it, or bounce ideas off me.

I will tell you many people keep their jobs when starting a new business and don't retire from their "day" (or in your case night) job until they feel they have hit a level they are comfortable with. But once you hit that level there is a good chance you will never have to work for someone else again.

Good Luck in your search for finding the right place for you. Go for it!........whatever "it" may be!

Most of the responses you will get will be about selling something. And will involve BUYING something first to "set up your business". That's how THEY make money, by getting you to spend. Google "pyramid scheme" for more information on this. I've gotten caught up in those in the past, and then realized that I was not a salesperson and I was not going to be able to recover my up-front costs.

Hi Jen,
I recently started working for Discovery Toys - it's 100% legit and a lot of fun. It is a business, where you sell toys, games, books and CDs at parties, boutiques, events, etc. I love it because I set my own hours and can still be home full time with my son. January is a great time to join the team for a few key reasons:
1. The start up fee is reduced through 1/31, making it an excellent time to invest in your business
2. Our winter sale is running through Feb. 6, so it's an easy time to sell toys
3. If you can book your first party for this coming weekend (might be too soon), hosts get an extra $20-50 in free toys just for hosting!

I'd love to tell you more about it and get you started right away. I'm having a blast selling the toys and my son loves playing with my sample products. :D

Please contact me at ____@____.com or visit my site at http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao

Looking forward to hearing from you!

The only legitimate work from home type of jobs that I know of besides running a home day care is becoming an Avon Representative, A Celebrating Home(formerly Hone interiors) Rep, or becoming a Pampered Chef Consultant. WIth all three you can set the kind of hours you feel will best work with the kind of at home mom you want to be. I have been an Avon Rep and a Home interiors Rep. When I was an Avon Rep I sent brochures out to all my neighbors and that is how I got customers. I don't drive so I would have one day set up where my customers could come to my home to pick up and pay for their orders. When I did Home Interiors since I don't drive I would do monthly open houses at my home on a Saturday. I would send out fliers in my neighborhood and I would have brochures available and that is how I got my orders.

For almost 6 years, I've been in partnership with a company that has helped me earn an income while remaining a SAHM to my 2 girls. There’s no financial risk, no large investment and no need to sell, stock or deliver products.

I would love to show you what I do. Can you join me for an online business overview? If yes, here are some times to choose from. Let me know which one fits into your schedule along with the best contact number to reach you 6 minutes before the start time of your choice.

We needed a little extra money to make ends meet and I stay home with the kids. I started selling items around the house on Ebay and found I could get rid of extra clutter and get money for it. Then, Saturdays my husband would watch the kids and I would go out to yard sales and pick up name brand kids clothes, shoes, whatever I could find that there was a demand for. The more time I spent on this the more money I made. I think you can even get books to show you how to sell more effectively. I just LOVE doing it! It worked great for me because I could print the shipping labels on my computer and my mailman would come to my steps and pick up any packages. And me and the babies never had to leave the house!

I don't know what your background is, but is there a talent you have that you can re-invent yourself? My background is education so I have been working part time the last 2 years as a tutor to local students in K-12th grades. It allows me to work only 5 hours a week and make the same as working 25 hours in a retail place.

Could you take on a child or two to watch through the week? I believe you don't have to be licensed to watch a couple of children from one other family.

Good luck!
