Hi moms

I have a little boy who will be 4 end of April. He loves music and absolutely enjoys playing with musical instruments. I was thinking of getting him started with piano lessons. Does anyone know of a good teacher in the plano area who can help me out.

thanks
S.

I would wait until he is at least 9 to start lessons. The practicing that is needed to progress would be hard for a 4 year olds attention span.

Have you considered Kindermusik? It's age-appropriate music for up to about 1st grade. I highly recommend Kindermusik by Sheila. Sheila is very experienced and my 3 boys have loved classes with her for years.

My sons teacher is amazing. She is so patient and engaging to him. Her name is Paige and she is the music teacher at Prestonwood Elementary in the RISD. Her contact number is 972/743-7333. You will love her!

I have a good friend who teaches piano in Plano. She doesn't focus on classical training, because most kids just want to learn for fun. She has lots of fun events for the kids and her students really enjoy class. My son took lessons from her until his sophomore year in high school when he was just too busy to keep it up. Note - she does not recommend taking students until they are 7 or 8 years of age, because they need to be able to read. Even with advanced students, she has discovered that they don't learn well until age 7-8 (sometimes later for boys). He name is Tish Rogers ###-###-####).

I have a friend her name is Marina, she teaches at Greenhill, but also teaches from home - she is close to 15/coit. My son and her son are very good friends.

I know she has 30 class, which for a 4 year old might be good. Her number is ###-###-####

You can tell her S. gave you her number.
