Looking for a Good Online Math Program for Summer

Hi,

I have a daughter in the 8th grade, and I'm looking for some good online math programs, which she could use to retain her math skills. I have read about the "summer slide" and it seems scary apparently kids loose a couple of months of learning in reading and math skills.

Thanks

D.

www.time4learning.com This program is 20 dollars per month for the first student and 15 for each additional student. It is a full curriculum from pre-k to 8th grade. They can have access to several grades at once. It's always good in the summer to let them back up and go over the previous years math. All programs are a bit different in the way they present the subjects anyway. I'd place them in 7th grade and have them work on it at least 1 hour per day which will be plenty of time for both grades of math if they do only math this summer.

We used ALEKS math this year as a supplement. It's online, you can get a free trial for 5 days or a week, something like that. It's $20 a month and it will test the student to see where they are. My kids liked it and it covered some things on the state exam my daughter and I didn't cover in our pre-algebra book
Google ALEKS math and the free trial comes right up.

The Kahn Academy has lots of math and science courses. They are taught with online videos. The best part is that it's all free and you don't have to register! Here's the link: http://www.khanacademy.org/

I know there are alot of sites if you type in Grade 8 Math online. I used to use it for my son when he was in about grade 7. As well I used it for my grandson when in grade 1. They have plenty of sites to choose from, many that you can print off and have the work done on paper rather than online. They also have reading etc. on these same sites.
Good luck, dont' put to much pressure on though as your daughter will get to overwhelmed and it will disinterest her.

Although this is an old post but a great site the teachers have recommended is Beestar. Its a great site with lots of good questions. We really like the math competition portion for the kids! It also gives us a really good analysis at the end so we know how to help the kiddos thrive in school.
