Hey Everyone: My husband and I started trying for our first son in the summer of 2006 and it took a little while to get pregnant and our first son was born in the summer of 2007. With our son, we started trying on our one-year anniversary trip and when we got home I missed my period so I thought I was pregnant. It turned out that for some reason I just skipped that cycle, the doctor said possibly from flying. Well we unofficially started trying again last month and than went on vacation on August 10. I was due for my period on Aug. 12 and it never came. Since having my son I've been pretty regular periods. I took a pregnancy test a couple days after missing my period on vacation and it came back negative. I also took another one yesterday and it came back negative. I am thinking maybe I am just skipping another cycle. Has anyone else dealt with this or dealt with negative tests when in fact you are pregnant? Thanks!!

My first pregnency test with my daughter was negative ( a couple days after my missed period ) then I took a second one a week later and it was positive. Good luck :)

Believe me, I feel your frustration! I have never had a positive pregnancy test even though I've taken them both times I have, in fact, been pregnant. I'd recommend doing blood tests instead of the OTC tests - that's the only way I've found out! I went through years of infertility treatments after having my first daughter (I got pregnant within 6 months of trying the first time). I finally got pregnant after I stopped fertility treatments, but they're six years apart. I wish you good luck and fast results!:)

I can relate. With my 3rd child I missed my period, had morn sickness, and gained weight. Test neg for 2 weeks. Then I got my period nearly a month late. This was end of Sept, Oct came and at the end of the month after a nite of drinking I did not feel well and 2 days later I took a test. Eureaka Positive!. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy in July 05... Give your body time the tests do not always show that your prego right away!*-*

How old are you? Is it possible you've begun menopause? If not, is it possible that your period has always been a little irregular since giving birth, but you are just now noticing because you're trying again?

The first pregnancy test I took came back negative but I was SO EXHAUSTED all the time that I knew something was wrong (missed periods weren't an indicator b/c I had been on Depo, which stops your cycle). So I waited a couple of weeks and went to the doctor to find out that I was in fact pregnant, which I pretty much knew already. If memory serves me, I think I had a urinary tract infection that interfered with the reading.

Hey, I skipped a period too, took a test, came back negative, went to doc thinking something's wrong, he told me I was pregnant. The news was great wspecially because I thought that I had something seriously wrong that I hadn't gotten it for almost two months! Don't always trust those tests. Wait another few weeks then do it again. Sometimes the hormone level is too low for the test to pick up on. If you really want to know, schedulae an appointment with your doc and have him/her do a blood test. Only way to know sooner.
Good luck!!!!!!

I seldom miss periods completely, but I do have excessively long cycles sometimes, which can complicated trying to conceive. I've also had false negative home tests with 3 of my soon to be 4 children. If you aren't yet pregnant, look into charting your cycles. There are some great books (available at the library too) for explaining how to chart for conception or to prevent conception. And there are a couple of free websites that can make it easier to keep track of your body's cues. www.fertilityfriend.com and www.mycycle.com are 2 I've used in the past.

yes i have! I have two kids, but lost one in between the two two. (it was only a mos along.) but any way back to your question..I was feeling tired and achy, and took several tests...i went to the obgyn several times and each time they said nope sorry..but i insistedthat something was going on. after 2 mos of trying to convince the doc that something was there, they took a test and tada.. i was 4 mos along! they were surprised. It was my daughter but we didn't know till later the sex of the baby. I fully believe in trusting your instincts and body. oh.. i also was getting shorter and shorter periods through the 4 mos even slightly spotting in the 5th. its all in how your body adapts to the baby's presence i believe.(not a medical statement just a one of mine:) -J.

How do you feel? Those pregnancy symptoms are pretty indicative of a pregnancy even before you ever pee on a stick! That's how I knew the second time, I only took the test to be sure. I'd go to the doctor's office so they can do a blood test - it might be more accurate. They might tell you to wait until you are two weeks late just to be sure the hormone is really present in your system. But if you are late and have other symptoms, you might just well be pregnant! I have heard of many people who get negative tests but are, in fact, pregnant. Let us know!
