I went to Coleman vision and have had no issues at all. My uncle and father-in-law also used Coleman with no issues. Good luck!

When I just went in for my last exam, I asked about Lasik and was told that I'm not an ideal candidate because of my age (too young) as the vision tends to change more drastically as we get older.

I had my eyes done at The Dishler Institute in Denver and my experience was great. Dr. Dishler is one of the best in the country and I have perfect vision now. He does custom lasik, and it is worth every penny! Good Luck.

I had lasik done in 2004 (I was 27) and have loved it ever since. When I started out I went to my current eye doctor and asked him about it. He told me the pros - cons and his experience with it. He told me the options of where I had to go and at that time there were a few but not as many as there are now. I went with Buckley Eye Center in Colorado Springs. I also chose "Wave Front Vision" it helps you at night time so you don't see the star bursts around light. I have never had a problem with night vision.

DO NOT go to any one offering discounts/coupons. They shave costs off to do it cheaper and you can't do that with this type of procedure. The place I went offered me a 20/20 guarantee. That if my eyes were not 20/20, they would pay for the cost of that eye.

I've heard the bad and the good stories, and I put it off for a couple of years. "I only have one set of eyes" that is what kept me from doing it. Talking to you local eye doc and researching your options it the best bet. Yes I may need reading glasses at some point, but my doc said probally not until I am in my 40's. Doing lasik saved my from tons of hassel with contact, the price for yearly visit and ording contact.
Just do your home work.

This is a papa, not a mama. Hope it's okay. Anyway, I got Lasik done three years ago at InSight Lasik in Lafayette. I did quite a bit of homework up front to find a place with good history and feedback. They were fantastic and very communicative from the very start. I'd recommend them any day. More importantly, and the real reason for replying, is regarding paying for it. Most insurance companies offer a "cafeteria plan", as I've heard it called, where you can opt to have a given amount deducted from your pay pre-tax for paying child care and whatnot. Well, mine allowed me to do this for my lasik. I enrolled for the amount of the procedure and didn't have to wait until the amount accrued; I was able to have it done immediately given that I'd committed the amount to the insurance company. The bonus is it was pre-tax so saved a significant amount vs. paying out of pocket. Something you might want to look into.

Two ladies I work with have had Lasik done. One is quite happy with hers. However realize once you have it done, it is not permanent. Your eyes continually change and you'll have to have future Lasik procedures. This lady is going on her third revision. The second lady just had hers done 2 weeks ago and wishes she hadn't done hers. She had very bad eyesight to begin with. Her doctor told her she would be seeing much better in three days. She is very discouraged as she is still having blurred vision after two weeks. At her follow up appointment last week the doctor told her because of her original poor eyesight it may take a month or longer for her to have clear vision. This has been h*** o* her because our jobs consist of 85% computer work and the other 15%, reading and writing--I've had to be her other set of eyes when she can't enlarge the print size. Plus she will still have to wear reading glasses. She is my poster person for not even considering the procedure. The first lady I mentioned is also a poster person for not having it done. One procedure would be enough, but to think of having to have more than one procedure No Thanks. Just Food For Thought!! I have no hints in locating a "good" doctor other than ask around and interview your possibilities prior to committing to the procedure, its your eyes and your money--your choice depends on your happiness with your results.

Hey it's really good. I only had the one left eye done for $300 in Southfield, MI. 2 years ago.
noticed the muscle tone is softer, (more droop) and a dark circle more or less on the lasik eye. I like it anyway.
No glasses except to read alot.

The first place to start is with your regular eye doc. They usually have the initial info on the lasik & can tell you if you're a candidate. My husband has lasik surgery just over a year ago. He loves it! He's had no complications. It truly is amazing, you go in not being able to see w/o glasses, come out & sleep for 12 hrs, wake up and you can see! The doctor that did his surgery is Dr. Chaffin. The office is just off of Kietzke & Neil. Good luck!

I had mine done at "Swagel-Wooten Eye Center". The did a very good job and Dr. Wendy Wooten is the doc who helped bring Lasik to the US. It's expensive; but will pay for itself in the long-run if you typically purchase disposable lenses.

I had lasik done last May and LOVE it. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to do it! I went to TLC vision in Denver to have the actual procedure done, but my pre and post exams were done in Longmont. The cost for me approximatly $2500 (that includes lifetime eye exams and if any problems arise that need another surgery to correct). I am sure you can get it cheaper then that if you needed to.

I had lasik a little over 2 years ago with Dr Perkins at Barnett & Delaney eye center in the Biltmore area. They were great, very professional, answered all of my many questions. I have been happy with the results. It was on the pricey end, but I didn't want to take the cheap route with my eyes. You can have a free consult where they will answer all of the questions that you posted about.

I had it done 7 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I still have 15/20 to this day.

Some warnings: I did have to go back and get an adjustment. It was not fun (it hurt), but in the long run worth it. My husband had it done too, but was not as happy with his results. He did not go back for the adjustment. He also made a decision at the last minute to have one eye for distance and one for reading. I would not do this-get the best distance you can. Reading glasses are cheap and easy (I have just started using them this year-I'm 46, but I am in grad school, so lots of reading and computer time has taken its toll).

I have brown eyes, my husband has blue. I think light eyes are more sensitive to this procedure. He says his eyes get dry and tired more than before the surgery. I don't notice this.

I used Barnett/Delaney. I did go to Phoenix to have it done, but that was 7 years ago. I am sure there are good docs in Tucson.

One tidbit of info - sometimes Lasik surgery can affect your night vision. When looking at a stoplight or street light, you may see a "star burst" effect. I have a cousin who is an expert in fitting corrective contact lenses specifically developed for people who had Lasik surgery that didn't turn out well, either due to a bad surgeon or complications after the surgery. Personally, I wouldn't have it done. You only have one set of eyes. After hearing the horror stories from my cousin, there's no way I'd risk it. There is an alternative to Lasik that I found which is effective with no risk of messing up your eyes and it provides the freedom from daytime use of glasses or contacts. I just had it done about 2 years ago and its the best thing i could have done. I abosolutely love it!! Where I went it was a little over 2000 total. I actually aplied for a Care Credit Card and thats how i paid for it. They have payment plans for no interest for 12 months. I highly recommed you doing it.
Now as far as the procedure its not that bad. I had a hard time with the tests they do before hand, but thats only because my eyes are really sensitive. I have never been able to do the puff air test. so that gives you an idea. The actual procedure doesnt hurt. Its just pressure and noise you hear. and i think its when they are putting the suction thing or something like that on the eye, you wont see for like 2 seconds but its not bad.

I got lasik surgery done about 3+ years ago, it was almost the best thing I ever did. My sister en-law got the same surgery. One of my ole bosses got it done also. My sister en-law and I got it done at Nation wide vision we both had great out comes from it. My Old boss got it done at baronet and Delaney. My old boss if he had gotten it done at nation wide he would have spent a lot less than I did, but instead he spent about $800+ more than I did. I spent about $2000 because of how bad my stigmas was, but my sister en-law spent nearly 1000 less than me. They do free consultations. The surgery usually just takes a few minutes if that it takes a lot longer for prepping. You stay awake for the surgery; it does not hurt at all. Your eyes will be numbed and you will be given some valium for nerves. You will not be able to drive after the surgery, and you will have to take a nap or something after the surgery for a couple hours so that you can rest your eyes. Also if you got to nation wide if you send a couple hundred more if you need any touch ups later down the road you are covered for life. I love not having to weir glasses, and I never got use to contacts. It is also a tax deduction because it is medical. If you have any question I will be more than happy to tell you anything you want to do.

S.- I had Lasik several years ago and I cannot rave about it enough!! I didn't go to one of those centers, I used Dr David Drucker in Denver. He is excellent, very personable and professional. He deals with every patient personally and gives excellent pre and post care. I would recommend him HIGHLY! I had my surgery 5 years ago, and my vision is still better than 20/20. I started with vision so bad that I couldn't go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without my glasses because I would bump into things.

My husband just had this done a few months ago and he loves it. He went to Lasik Plus on Jefferson. They were very cost effective for the procedure they did an amazing job and with this company you get free touch ups for life as well as if something is bothering you they are nation wide so you can go to any lasik plus place anywhere and have them see you. He has never had a problem!!! But call around go in for an exam and just talk to the doctors.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you live in the Phoenix area, Dr. Jay Schwartz is the best. He is the team optometrist for the Phoenix Suns and works with the other valley Sports teams (Coyotes, Diamondbacks). He performed lasik on my husband 2 years ago and his eyes have been great! I like how he doesn't work exclusively as a lasik surgeon, but is also an optometrist. I have seen him for eye issues that were not related to lasik and he is fantastic. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my eyes or my family's eyes.

I had Lasik done and love it. I started at my eye doctors office. Then I went through a company in the newspaper that said $299 per eye deal. Actually my doctor worked with this company. I love it. I never read up on how the procedure was done so I was taken back a little when I showed up to get my eyes done. i refused to take the Valium that they offer you to relax because of drug addiction in my family. That was not a smart idea. Take the medicine they offer, they do it for a reason. I think out the door I paid between $1,000.-1,300. The best money I ever spent. I would recommend to buy the insurance that they offer. That is why my cost is more than $299. per eye. I did not need a enhancement and my eyes were really bad before the surgery. Now I have 29/20 vision. They only slight problem that I have is because I had halo vision at night anyway it is a bit worse. They told me I would though. Well worth it though.

Where do you live? I work for a great group of docs in the Reno/Sparks area...Advanced Vision & Laser. You should call & speak with the Laser Center staff. They are very knowledgable & can answer all your questions & make an appointment for an evaluation to see if you are even a candidate. It's not cheap, but if you have any type of vision insurance (VSP), you may be able to get a small discount too. Good luck!

My husband had his eyes done about 4 years ago at Buckley Vision with great results. The one thing they could not do is prevent him from needing reading glasses due to his Astigmatism. You can go and actually watch a procedure.

S., I have checked out this procedure thoroughly. I am not aq candidate for this procedure but need the more extensive procedure done, probably this summer. Anyhow, I have seen many docs in town, I would recommend you get several recommendations, free consults, to see who and what office you feel most comfortable with. I would not recommend Dr. Newman, for his office feels like a conveyor belt, when I went for my consult he wasn't even in town!! Hello??? But the office manager deemed me a good candidate for Lasik, which many of the other docs told me I wasn't. He was in Vegas doing surgery that day. Anyhow, moving right along, i found Dr. Bernitsky good - a friend of mine had lasik from him and she said he was good, and she is hard to please with docs. And will probably have my syrgery from him, and I hear Dr. Stephen Coleman is very good. Good luck to you!! M. m

Oh, S., be sure to go for the free consults and allow for an hour or so, for they will do a thorough exam and may dilate. so being sunglasses for driving home afterwards! Many offer financing, so you will not need to save a lot BEFOREHAND. you can pay it off later on.

I had Lasik done in November at TLC. I was happy with them except for the fact that they closed their Colorado Springs office at the end of the year so if I have to have anything done I have to drive up to denver. They do have a local dr though, so I don't have to go far for my checkups. The procedure itself was quick and painless and not scary at all. I was only in surgery for about 5 minutes if that. I was able to see right after they took me into recovery and the only problem I had right away was sensitivity to light, which went away after a couple hours. I had no pain and the goggles werent that bad and you only have to wear them at night. The only drawbacks to the surgery are dry eyes, you constantly have to put drops in and some trouble with night driving but that has gotten a lot better also. Good luck

Hi S., Me and My husband both have had the lasik done. We did it in Scottsdale Arizona, but there are many many different locations. The important thing is that you need to make sure that the doctor has had a lot of experience and a big success rate. There are payment options out there to choose from......your doctor will let you know all about them. We choose to put most of our charges on a no interest credit card. It gives you 1 1/2 years to pay it off with no interest. We make payments every month before the interest deferment goes out, we will have it paid off. It is like paying cash. There is a big cost difference in doctors, but I didn't look so much at the cost as how experienced my doctor was.....I was definately willing to pay more. (I paid about $2,500 for both eyes, with lifetime) Not only that but with the payment option we choose, we paid an extra $300 for each of us to have the lifetime. That means that if our vision starts to get bad again, they will continue to fix it throughout our lifetime. The only thing is that you HAVE to get a regular eye exam every year from a normal doctor. My only complaint is that we should have done it a long, long time ago....it would have saved us hundreds in glasses, contacts, etc. We are VERY satisfied with the outcome and we can see like we have never been able to see..even with contacts and glasses, amazing!! (and I'm not a salesman!)

I had this done this last year. I was referred to The Buckley institute by my husbands bosses wife. They have a free consult where they go over whatever you like you can also watch the proceedure being done on others before you have yours done. You have a bunch of tests done to make sure you qualify and for them get there proceedure done best for you. On your actual surgery day it takes all of 5 minutes and your done. Its very fast and I couldn't be happier. Not worrying about glasses, keeping them clean with kids grabbing at them, laying down to watch tv and not having them poke the sides of your head.. its awesome.

Lasik was one of the best investments I have ever made. I had my procedure done at 20/20 clinic in Colorado. They are fantastic. The are the leading vision correction doctor for the Colorado Avalanche. I did most of my research online and I had a co-worker who also had her procedure done at 20/20 also. There is really no pain involved and I am one of the biggest chickens on the planet! My suggestion is pay extra money and go for the lifetime guarantee. My left eye changed slightly and I had to get an enhancement but it fell in my 2 yr timefrime (cheaper option). Check out the BBB website for any complaints on the complany you choose. I promise it will be worth it, I should have done it 10 years ago.

My husband and I had Lasik in October. I now see 20/10...he's 20/15. It is AMAZING to walk in the rain without hiding your face. We wonder why we waited so long!

We had "custom lasik" from Standard Optical. My husband did most of the research and we went to the same people many of our friends did...with great results.

I had Lasik done back in 2004 and it was by far the best thing I have ever done. I went through my eye doctor and he recommended TLC. They are located in CA. Not sure if there are locations elsewhere I have not checked. I went with their custome Lasik that was a little more expensive than normal. With the custome Lasik, if I ever have to get more done, it's free and they will always use the newest and best technology. My recovery was great, I could see after about a 5 hour nap after the surgery. It took about 20 minutes for them to do both eyes. With my surgery they didn't use any blades, with the custom they used a laser which makes it more sanitary to cut the flap.
