Hi guys! Does anyone have any suggestions for cleaning my kitchen floor grout? I've tried vinegar, scrubbing with Clorox with a scrub brush, using a steam mop, etc, but the grout still looks filthy. I can't stand looking at my floor!!! Wishing all you mommas a night with your children sleeping through it...... TIA

Is/was the grout white? If so, try the Clorox bleach pens. Basically, you draw the bleach/gel stuff onto the grout line, let it sit there for a while, then scrub it off. I did that with my countertops at my old house (white tiles with white grout - in a kitchen - who the hell designs a kitchen that way? Uggggh) - anyway, they came out as good as new with very little effort on my part! Since you're doing a whole floor, maybe there's some way to buy Clorox bleach gel in some form larger than the pens, I don't know...

I have a Shark steamer ( not mop) that works kind of like a pressure washer. I love it. It is very time consuming, lot of sweat equity but good results.

I also use a grout brush from home depot to scrub. It's a huge job but is great when it's done!

I bought a grout cleaner from Home Depot. It takes alot of scrubbing. Make sure you seal it as soon as it dries so you won't have to do it again. Shame on the builders for not sealing it originally!

Oxyclean or Grout Clean is the only thing that works.

There are a lot of good ideas on how to clean the grout listed here. The only thing I would like to add is: once you get the grout cleaned, go to Home Depot and get a sealer for the grout. This way it will not get so dirty again for a long time. Check the directions that come with the sealer to find out how often you will need to seal it. Believe me, it's worth the extra money and work!

You need to use actual grout cleaner for the best results and then you'll have to seal the grout. Periodically you'll have to repeat all or part of this since grout needs to be resealed as part of its maintenance.

My in-laws swear by crud cutter. It's a spray that can be found at home depot. I have no idea what's in it--i'm quite sure that it's not as natural as baking soda and vinegar--but they were amazed by how well it worked on their tiled kitchen floor.

Adrienne,

Did you first put down baking soda on the grout and then vinegar over?

It will creat a bubbling, fizzing reaction. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then wipe with either a toothbrush or kitchen sponge - it will come right up, no hard scrubbing required.

We just did this in our kitchen and cleaned away YEARS of dirt. It's pretty gross that we haven't done this before really. The downfall is that I now have to do the rest of the tiled house because the difference is so obvious!
