D. you may want to try a website I used to get advice and recommendations for other doctors in the illinois area. I too went through Dr. Miller and his staff is wonderful. Unfortunately I had to 2 failed attempts but once I stopped using their meds I immediately got pregnant.

Please ask to speak to Dr. Anne Borkowski. She knows of a very good agency that specializes in donor eggs. I don't know the name of it right off the top of my head or I would give you their phone number. But anyway, Dr. Borkowski is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet, and she will definately do everthing possible to help you. Please let her know that J. Hetherington told you about her.

I am terribly sorry about your recent adoption disappointment. Being in the adoption profession, I know the roller coaster ride that people go through at times to build their families. There is no advice I can give on this subject but I felt I needed to respond. I am so very sorry for your loss. *HUG* I would offer you advice on other things to consider but I am sure you have heard it all. Good luck dear one. Just remember, whether you have children or not you still need to be good to each other! *HUG*

D. - I found out my eggs were poor quality last fall - I'd already known there was a high likelihood at age 43 it was too late and so I started looking into donor egg and adoption in summer. I had a strong attachment to the genetic connection with a child, and was heartbroken when I realized it just wasn't going to happen for me. One of the things that helped me with closure was getting a second opinion - I was with Rhinehart in Naperville, who was fine, but decided I needed to move to another clinic with better SART stats (River North IVF - they're part of Fertility Centers of Illinois with several offices around the Chicago burbs including Naperville) and get another opinion as to what protocol to do for my 2nd IVF - she suggested the same protocol which made me feel good. This way I knew that I was at the best clinic in the Chicago area and that our protocol was the best for me - and then if it didn't take, I knew I wouldn't be looking back in a couple years saying what if?

I decided to go with donor egg for a couple reasons - wanted to be able to have a child that looked like it at least fit into my family - this seemed like the next best thing to having my own child. I also didn't want to have to go through all the approval process of adoption - after all the fertility stuff I'd already been through - and I didn't want to deal with the wait. And I wanted to raise a child from infancy - infant white children are not easy to come by, especially with open adoption and me being single.

Have you visited SART.org to review the latest - 2006 - stats on Miller for donor egg? His are comparable to most other clinics, however, FCI River North IVF does about twice as many. I had a consult with a woman who is a professional fertility consultant - helps women understand the SART stats and what they mean - and she said that if your doc has similar stats to another clinic but the other clinic does a lot more transfers with egg donor, you should go with the clinic that does more because they are more experienced. FCI does twice as many transfers with donor eggs as Miller - something to consider. FCI also has a Naperville Office, which is where I go, but for the actual transfer I'll have to go downtown to River North. http://www.fcionline.com/

I would recommend Dr. Morris in Naperville as well. I am a therapist working right next door to his office and have had several clients who have really liked working with him.

I really don't have any recommendations for you but I had to respond after reading your situation. The want for a child is so strong and such an emotional thing to go through. I also went through 2 IVF's that failed along with less invasive treatments before that. I can't imagine the pain you went through with such an emotional adoption process that failed. Reading your blog pulled at my heart strings. I wish you the best and that your dream comes true very soon!
