Experience with Randy Morris, Fertility Doc?

Hi all, My husband and I had no trouble getting pregnant with my son but have now been trying for a second child for almost 2 years without any luck. We charted and used ovulation kits but nothing helped. My ob/gyn ran lots of tests but there doesn't appear to be a "cause" for the infertility. We also had one cycle of clomid and IUI with her to no avail. We just met with Dr. Randy Morris this week and are planning to try IUI again. My question is has anyone had any experience - good or bad - with this doctor? The process is time and money consuming and I don't want to waste either with a bad doc. Thanks mamas!

What can I do next?

I don't know Dr Morris, but a number of my friends have successfully used Dr. Kaplan at Fertility Center of Illinois. I've only heard good things about the clinic. Good luck. It's so stressful.

Hi E.,
I don't know about Dr. Morris but, having gone the fertility route, I wanted to recommend two books that helped me navigate the ups and downs of the process. You may have read them already, but one is called Inconceivable by Julia Indichova and the other is The Fertility Cure by Randine Lewis. Both are positive and helpful and give you some things to do that help you feel more involved and less helpless in the process. I don't know what worked and what didn't, but I incorporated some of the ideas presented and conceived a healthy baby with IUI. At the very least, reading these books helped my sanity at times!
Best of luck to you. I hope your next IUI is the one that does the trick.
Susan

I think Dr. Morris is the greatest! We tried for five years to get pregnant with our first child and tried EVERYTHING! When we finally decided to go with IVF our OB/GYN recommended him. We interviewed him as well as several others. He was by far the most technologically advanced, had all kinds of data to support what he was telling us, took us through his procedure in detail and had the best "bedside manner". Needless to say, after implanting me with two embryos, one did take on our first round (very lucky) and I now have a five year old daughter (and then got pregnant naturally two years later -- go figure). I'm so grateful to him -- I felt he was really right there with me through the whole process. It felt more personal with him than with many of the other "factory-type" IVF doctors we interviewed. Hope this helps and that you get as lucky as I did!

I belong to a single moms by choice group and several of the moms used Randy Morris and had great success. they all seem to like him which is quite important in fertility treatment as there are lots of emotional ups and downs. Just FYI, a recent study out found that neither clomid nor IUI effective for "unexplained infertility" docs like to be doing something but when that something is expensive and ineffective, they really aren't doing their patients any good and in stead are just making money themselves. Personally, I used Northwestern (dr. Kazar.)and i really like him as he won't promote unnecessary and ineffective interventions. i originally went to FCI (Kaplan et al) but hated it - it is a huge conveyor belt like operations and they promote all kinds of interventions - highly profitable for them. Good Luck.

I am a fertility patient at another clinic and this will be my last cycle with injectables and IUI. If it doesn't work I'll be doing IVF.

So I have been looking around to determine which fertility clinics in the area have good IVF rates and Dr. Morris in Naperville has pretty good IVF rates.

I know you are probably not even considering IVF this early in the game but I just wanted you to know that he must be doing something right with his rates being good.

Hi E.,

I'm going to make a suggestion that probably sounds crazy, but I think it's worth a shot. The reflexologist I go to has a realy high success rate removing "blockages" that then allow them to get pregnant. I suggested him to a friend of mine who had been trying for years to get pregnant with her first, her doctor told her to give up, it wasn't going to happen. Well, she went to see the reflexologist and now has a beautiful baby girl! The appointments are $100.00 for an hour long session, which is a heck of a lot cheaper than the alternative!

Please let me know if you decide to go.

Good luck! Hope it works for you!
