Can anyone give advise about IUI? I have just completed my 3rd round od IUI plus Clomid. Waiting the two weeks to know if it worked is hard but what is harder is the thought of having to do this again. Any advise?

What can I do next?

I have been working with a great ob/gyn in Atlanta for the last 10 months because of my PCOS. She's really helped me get strtaightened out.

I had been infertile for 4 years before coming to her and no one had any real soultions for me. I would highly recommend seeking her out for a consultation. She's very thorough and very specific in her treatments. She also works as naturally as possible. She is a referred physician with Naprotechnology.

Her name is Dr. Kathleen Raviele and her # is ###-###-#### if that sounds like something that might interest you. You can read about my experiences on www.geocities.com/MurrensNatureMama

I can understand what you are going through. I went through the same thing many years ago. I am sorry to say it never worked for me. We finally adopted a beautiful baby girl from Korea. I am one of those people that after adopting, I got pregnant. There is 8 years between my adopted daughter and my birth son. When my son was 2, I had to have a hysterectomy and the doctor said he did not know how I ever got preg. because I was in such a mess (I had endometriosis). My children are now 21 and 13. The only advice I can give you is to pray and be willing to accept God's will whatever it is. That was very hard for me to do as I am sure it will be for you. Prayer is what got me through this tough time.

I'd suggest you surf some blogs. I'm on wordpress, and there are dozens of women dealing with infertility that post every day. I don't know what all blogs you can find--I think google has a blog-surfer, which would probably be your best bet. I've not done that yet (being on wordpress [it's free, btw], I get more than enough blogs to read, so I don't usually go off-site to look for blogs. But you can get a lot of advice on infertility talking to women who are going through this or have gone through it. There is something that somebody mentioned on one of my email lists that says helps with infertility--here's the website: www.naprotechnology.com. I've not heard anything about it except what this lady says, so you can check it out and see if it might help. Good luck.

Don't lose faith. I tried for 6 years and did everything to have one and was at the point of giving up. I am 38 now and five years ago I gave birth to my daughter. Very healthy and happy. Needles to say we were very supprised, we had given up and I was not taking or doing anything and she was concieved compleaty naturally. So don't loss faith if you truely want a child it can happen.

My OB said that if Clomid doesn't work within 4 months, it's probably not going to work at all. I would see a fertility specialist if Clomid doesn't do the trick. Hang in there!! Clomid worked for me the 1st month. It does make you feel like poop!! I'm sorry for your struggle!

Do you have PCOS?

I know how you feel! I am 31 and my husband is 32. We have been trying to get pregnant for about 4 years. I have been on Clomid several times and last year we tried the Clomid plus IUI route. I think that we did 3 rounds with just Clomid and a fourth round with Clomid plus shots (I can't remember what the medicine we used was right now). I did get pregnant the last time but lost the baby within the first 2 weeks. I know it is hard and I have a friend going through the same thing right now. We have kinda put things on hold for a while because I just couldn't go through it again right now. My doctor told me that sometimes stopping for a year is good for your body and often in that year things just kinda start working on their own and a lot of women get pregnant naturally. I hope this helps. Just don't get too discouraged!

Hello G.,

Infertility is sooo hard. All i can do is share my experience with you. I went through two rounds of Clomid with no success and was scheduled for an IUI. My fertility doctor wanted to first do a test where they put dye in my utereus and fallopian tubes and found that my tubes where horribly scared up and almost completely blocked. I then had a laposcopy and they removed my tubes so that left us only with in vitro as an option. We had been trying for two years and i felt just hopeless. So we decided to go with in vitro and became pregnant our first try. We now have boy/girl twins.

First, i don't know who your fertility doctor is but i would go to Dr. Keenan at Baptist Hospital for Women. He was absolutly wonderful. If your IUI does not work he offers in vitro at his office here is Knoxville. My first fertility doc wanted to send my to Nashville for in vitro Dr. Keenan has a very high success rate. Second, don't lose hope and know that whether you can have children or not, you will be okay and still have a happy life. There is really nothing ANYONE can say to make you feel better. Each infertility situation is unique.

I hope this helps?! If you ever need an ear my email address is: ____@____.com

First to respond to the lady that said "if you really want a child it will happen", I say that is not the case as many a women who are childless can attest to. I just wanted to say that as to not give you any false hope.

Second I had 4 IUI's and was unsuccesful and the next step per the Fertility Dr was IVF and that would also include donor eggs as I was 40. My husband and I talked and decided that we were blessed w/ one child and he would need to go to college (precedure would cost upwards of $10,000 for 2 implants only) and we also didnt want to use donor eggs. Now keep in mind that if I didnt already have one child I would have had the proceedure. I did become preg about a yr later on my own, but unfortunately miscarred in the 8th week.

I know how you feel and do wish you and your husband the best of luck. I know how completely hearwrenching it can be to want a child and not be able to convieve. Just know that you are not alone.

Best of Luck to you again and try to relax some. I know hard.. but it will help

Take care..
