I personally haven't had pcos. But my close friend did AND my sister-in-law had to use injectable meds. It took my friend quite a while to get the right balance of meds. My s-i-l took three tries....first time not enough, second time way toooooo much (13 eggs!), third time the charm! 3 eggs, 2 fertilized and she had a boy and a girl!

I'm sure the doc told you that the hormones can cause emotional highs and lows. So try to be patient and enjoy the "trying" :).

I did injectables with my IVFs thaqt didn't work. I took clomid and got pregnant with my 1st daughter on the 3rd cycle. When we tried again, I got pregnant on the 3rd cycle...3 must be the charm!

Hello! I have PCOS and have 2 kids. I was able to concieve daughter #1 with 6 rounds of clomid and metformin. I bf for her first year, lost weight and somehow (shockingly) got preg with daughter#2 with only metformin. I was really really shocked. There is a website called SOULCYSTERS.com that is all about PCOS there are threads on there about ttc. Also there is another site called PCOSMOMMIES.com The ladies on that site are sooooo helpful. There is one more website that I will recommend called FERTILITYFRIEND.com they used to be free when i was using it, I know they charge now but I don't know how much or anything like that. It was an awsome site that lets you chart your cycles while taking temps and keeping track of other signs. They also had a message board. Good luck and feel free to email me. I have had PCOS for 9 years now and there are alot more of us ladies out there that you would never know about.

I didn't have PCOS but my friend did and she is having twins soon after I think just Clomid. I did use injectibles for IVF for other fertility issues. If you don't already have a doctor or clinic you love, I would strongly suggest RMIA (Reproductive Medicine and Fertility Associates) in Woodbury. We got pregnant first IVF cycle, and although we lost one twin that was conceived, I am the mother of a handsome 3month old boy. Good Luck!

Hello,
I too have PCOS and was told that I would never have children. I can tell you that I lost weight and I had my son at 23yrs and when he was 6 months old I got pregnant again. I did not use any fertility drugs. I can tell you this after doing a research project for my college course, that getting pregnant after the age of 30 with PCOS has risks of birth defects. I am now 31 and I can tell that the problems that come with having PCOS are starting to act up again..ie..facial hair, weight problems, wacky periods, hair loss. I would just suggest finding a natural way to regulate your hormnones, but that is just me. Good luck to you and your husband. It will happen, just believe.

I do not have PCOS but have taken fertinex and clomid. The fertinex effected my emotions more than the clomid. I got pregnant with my son 6 years ago on an off cycle (did clomid and inseminations then due to a cyst took a month off). I was not successful using clomid or fertinex this time though. I hope it works for you. I understand all the emotions that go into infertility. I was scared to do fertinex.
Best wishes

Hello there!
I have PCOS and I did everything under the sun to get pg. I think that I am not the typical case however. I did 3 rounds of clomid, IUI with injectables for 6 rounds, I did 10 rounds of IVF (3 fresh 7 frozen). And an ovarian drilling procedure. I got pg 8 times (with the IVF),once with twins once with triplets and lost them all. IVF is not a fun process and it really took a huge emotional toll on me. I hyper stimulated all 3 fresh cycles 22, 28 and 44 eggs retrieved. This whole thing took @ 4.5 years as well and I don't even want to think about all the money we spent on it as well!!!!!!! IVF was at that time 6-9 years ago @$14K a round. I am now a happy mom of 2 wonderful adopted kids. I know that looking backwards that this was a journey that a stubburn woman had to go thru to become a mother. Having adopted children really is just the same if not better than having biological children. I say try for a while, but consider adoption too!No reason you can't get pg with your second child while your parenting your first child thru adoption. I wish I had proceeded with adoption a lot earlier!Good luck!!! PS I started all this medications buisness when I was 27 years old.

PCOS runs in my family and everyone eventually has been able to get pregnant. The metformin/clomid combo seems to be popular. Good luck!
