Information About Angie's List or Contractors for Remodeling

We recently moved into a home in Strongsville. We are seriously considering redoing the kitchen. Does anyone have experience with Angie's List? It is a pay service listing reviews and recommendations on home services (plumbing, electricians...) I am considering using it as a resource but don't want to pay for it if it is not worth the money. I'm trying to avoid spending in any way because this could be an expensive endeavor!!! Any advice on Angie's List or recommendations for contractors/companies to help with the kitchen remodel is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

What can I do next?

Hi Katherine,

We are currently having an addition put on our house in Richfield and are using Hurst Construction (www.hurstconstruction.com). Check out their web page for pictures of projects they have done. They won an award in 2006 for a kitchen remodel. We started with the Better Business B and selected 4 companies around our area. Hurst wasn't the cheapest but they far excelled in customer service which became very important as we interviewed the others. I highly recommend them. Contact me at ____@____.com if you have further questions.

From about 1999-2001 my mother-in-law had Angies. Whenever she needed a reference from the list she only ever received 3 or 4 companies to choose from. Each company they ever used were not up to par.
As a moving gift they used the list to find and pay for a moving company for us. They were not timely, came unprepared, damaged two items of ours in the move, damaged our walls and did not offer to compensate us for any of it. When we called them on it they refused compensation. One of the men tried to hit me up for another business of his.
This was a company that came highly rated on Angies. While the idea of Angies is good all it takes is a few friends to give a company a good rating. You are better off getting some names and numbers from your local Home Depot. They offer classes that I have seen contractors take. Look at the class list and drop in on one. See who is getting their hands dirty learning and ask her/him. You never know!

I am not familiar with Angie's List, but am always skeptical when the consumer has to pay to get a reference. I have used servicepro.com several times with success and it is free. Also, if you want a free referral to a company that does home remodelling, Custom Creations Home Remodelling has done several projects in my home and have been fantastic. They work out of Akron and Cleveland including the surrounding suburbs.

I have had two bathrooms done, a bedroom, some doors installed and some other general maintenance work all completed without a problem. My mother is having them remodel her kitchen and they are currently remodelling her bathroom and she is quite happy. So, if you want to contact them, the phone number is ###-###-####. You will want to speak with Denny Blacklock for your free estimate. Good Luck on your endeavor. My kitchen is also my next big project as well and will be using them.

Hello neighbor. Sorry to say that I don't know anything about Angie's list though. My hubby thankfully is very tallented and is able to do our remodels for us.Which has been many since we live in one of the areas older homes. We are also very blessed to have grown up in a large church in the area that has many guys liscensed in so many home improvement fields. Many of them are our friends and they have been there to help us with any questions or to swap favors helping my husband if he would help them, or just to help period. But since they are liscensed and I trust them with my life...If you need good guys name the field at the time you need it and I might be able to find you one.

Katherine,

My inlaws who live in Brunswick have the service and love it. They have used to several times to get new gutters, new roof, paint the house, and new windows. They seem to think it was worth the cost and the people they have worked with have done a really nice job on the house and were nice to interact with as well.

Good luck!
