Ideas Needed for a Bridal Shower

Our nephew is getting married in July in PA. He and his bride currently reside in TX, therefore, they have requested that any presents be shipped to their home since they will be flying in for the wedding and then directly to their honeymoon destination. We just found out the bride is coming to PA in June to do final planning for the ceremony and thought it would be nice to host a shower for her. She will be flying, so the problem remains how to get the presents back to TX without someone paying high shipping costs. We thought of doing gift certificates for the stores they're registered at, or possible ordering the presents on-line and having them shipped to her local store. Does anyone have any creative ideas? Thanks in advance...

What about 2 options of having everyone wrap a pic of their gift that they have already shipped to TX OR bring a gift card? I wouldn't open the gift cards at the shower though.

I think getting them shipped to their local store would be awesome! Maybe you can tell people to print a picture of what they got or something silly haha so she still has something to open or look at!

We had the same issue- I now live in NY but was born in CA so family wanted to have a shower for me there. My family did a mixture of things...some bought gift cards, some printed the picture of the item they purchased and had sent to my home and some got together and purchased a few months of netflix, which was a really fun gift. Another idea would be to purchase a nice dinner or experience on their honeymoon.

Have a wonderful celebration!!

have people cut photo's of the items they wanted to give off the registry. then wrap them in boxes or put them in bags along with a gift card to cover the cost of that item. everyone is saving on shipping cost. the bride can go and purchase the item (or something else) at that store. still get the fun of opening gifts / spending time together. Its a win win for everyone.

When my daughter was pregnant we wanted to give her a baby shower but had the same problems. We live in NY, she lives in CA. Everyone bought the gifts on line and had them shipped to her house, then printed pictures of them and wrapped it in small boxes or put them in the cards to give her at the shower. It was great! Some also gave her gift cards for items she wanted so she could buy them when she got back home. She did receive a few outfits for the baby and I also had some blankets etc that were hers when she was a baby. She knew I had these and wanted them also so she brought a small collapsible bag with her to take them home in.

Well I was going to say that they should print pictures too! It is kind of corny and some people probably wouldn't do it, but otherwise I'm not really sure what to do. I'd go ahead and ship them to her house. I don't understand shipping them to a local store...wouldn't it just be easier to have them at her house? Gift cards is another good idea. I think really though she'll probably just be thrilled to have a party in her honor and if she doesn't have presents to open it will be just fine...besides there will be more time to play games! ;)

I would request gift cards or find out where they are honeymooning. Maybe all guests could chip in for some type of excursion on the trip or a couple massage at the hotel. Maybe the hotel offers items like wine or chocolate covered strawberries for in room delivery. At the shower you can tell her to expect a week od suprises from the group or tell her she is going Snorkling or Horse back Riding on the beach and it's all paid for.

Have the group chip in and buy the couple a Wine of the Month club starting the month after they get back. Or a Cheese of the month club....or anythign else, there are sooo many out there (beer, movies, dinners, nuts, salsa,,,,) Each month, they will have a little gift arrive just from you guys. You can do 3, 6 or 12 month clubs I believe. I did a wine one for my parents for X-Mas and they loved it!

Yes, we are hosting a bridal shower for a cousin and she is flying in just for the day.

We are suggesting gift cards or ordering the gift and having the store ship them directly to her home.
