I am a first time Mom to Logan Kai and it is a joy! I just can't seem to get rid of those last 15 pounds!! I was active during my pregnancy and watched what I ate. ( somewtimes :) and gained a total of 40 pounds. I had a C-Section and couldn't return to the gym until a month ago. I try to workout ( 30 min. weights and 30 min walking on the treadmill) atleast 3-4 times a week now. I am breastfeeding so I haven't dropped my calories below 2000 a day. (I am 5' 11" so 2000 is a healthy level from what I'm told.) Help!!! I want my body back!!
P.S. I have this "shelf" of fat above my incision scar!?!? What's with that and does that go away???

What can I do next?

Be gentle to yourself, woman!!!! It took 9 months, plus 2 months of recovery time to get your body "out of shape" so you will need to give your body 11 months to get back into shape!!! (BTW - you will probably NEVER see exactly the same body again, but you can still be fit, tones and sexy). Keep in mind that you are breastfeeding too, which is great. I had the situation where my body hoarded all available fat to use for breastfeeding and when I stopped BF, the fat just melted off - really, I didn't need to hugely change my lifestyle or anything. After I weaned, I lost 1-2 pounds a month and kept it off. Most women lose weight while breastfeeding but I was the opposite.

Enjoy the island, and don't stress too much about the weight, just be healthy and active.

C.- Hi fellow Maui mom! Congratulations on your new baby. And give yourself 9 months to get the weight off-
9 months on, 9 months off... Go for long walks with baby
in the stroller- Thompson Road in Kula is great for getting
back into exercise, and eat healthy food, and it will start
to melt off- Your body wants to hold onto it while you are
first breastfeeding, and then it will use those reserves-
If you keep breastfeeding up to a year (peditrician recommended)- you will find that your hips and stomach have
never been so trim- just as long as you are getting consistent
exercise and eating healthy- trust in it- and go easy on yourself.

aloha C., I live on Maui too!

best way to lose weight and regain/maintain optimum health that i have ever found is the raw foods diet. not a "diet" per se, more of a lifestyle. not only will you drop the stubborn fat so easily, but you'll have so much more energy to devote to yourself, your son, and your husband. its amazing!

there are lots of great resources online, just google raw foods diet. and check out abundant aina cafe next too maui wowee cafe in kahului -- its a raw foods heaven! the deli at alive and well has lots of raw foods too, and so does mana foods.

you can eat all the raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds you want, and you'll easily maintain your optimum weight and feel so healthy... check it out.

and while you can't spot reduce fat, that fat will go away eventually through diet and exercise. but you can develop a strong core and abs for when the fat is gone-- your stomach will look great. try searching on "8 minute abs" on YouTube... excellent short workout.

Hi C., i'm a first time mom of a 10 month old son, i have the same problem as you. My body is still hanging on to 20 pounds of the 60 i gained while i was pregnant. I to had a c-section and watch what i eat and work out. I have that horendous sag of fatty looking skin right above my stomach. From what people have told me, is crunches, but i'm not totally sure, if it will work, i've been trying, but nothing much has happened. If you get any extra advise let me know, cause i would love to get back to my prepregnancy weight as well. Mahalo, dani
