What exactly do you want to talk to them about? Sex? Drugs?

Can you be more specific about the values you are addressing? I'm a school counselor. Check with your school and see if they have a program called "Character Counts". It's a good place to start. I have also seen some materials published through Scholastic Books (the bookclub that most school order from ... or you can look on scholastic.com). Personally, I won't be using any of those materials. Your children are old enough to understand rules. Ask them about school rules and why they are in place. Family values are your family rules. Ask them what they "think" they are and why (they are important). Take one at a time. Post them on the frig or place that everyone will see them frequently. They need to understand that every family's rules are slightly different. It's ok. As the need arises you may want to add rules or reinterpret them. Rules grow and change with them because our needs change. There are lots of materials out there that can be modified if you want a place to start. Good luck!

Dont think for one second that you need to research it! Tell your kids what you believe and also since they are old enough ask them open ended questions..."what do you think about this?"
Family values is def something you live out and not just talk about so being a good role model is the best way to get through...
