hi moms,
my 14 month old daughter's feet turn in at the toes. the pediatrician didn't say anything about it, but maybe she didn't notice. they've gotten worse and now she's tripping over her feet when she walks. her dad and my brother both had this problem when they were babies and wore corrective foot gear. i called the pediatrician this morning but will have to wait for our appointment, then get a referral, wait for an appt with a specialist...etc. i also want to take her to a chiropractor. anyone out there with ideas or experience in this area? thanks sooo much.

What can I do next?

Ok deeeeeep breath. This is very common and most kids grow out of it (they use to over treat it but now they tend to take more time letting it correct as much as possible on its own.)

see the attached site. The artical is short. It explaines the different types and some at home therapies to help it correct.

I am not an expert, but I read recently that corrective footgear is potentially more harmful than helpful and that young bodies should be given a chance to develop before we decide that they are abnormal. Apparently this is very common and in many cases kids just grow out of it.

I wish that someone had noticed this with me and was more proactive. I'm knock-kneed AND pidgeon-toed so make sure that you check her knees too since they often go hand in hand.

My son was also pigeon-toed (he's now 4) and I was concerned. My husband is / was also slightly pigeon toed. As in the case of my son, much of this corrects itself as the child grows. Tripping is normal at 14 months, as is toe-walking. If you like Dr. Sears, this article may also reassure you http://www.parenting.com/article/Child/Health/Ask-Dr.-Sea...
