I'm a single mom and my kids are getting older. My daughter will soon be on her way to college and my son is on his way to teenage freedom. I have devoted my life to them and making sure I do the right things for them. They don't need me around as much as before so I am finding myself free with time on my hands.. Boy do I miss the "Play with me mommy days". I know your kids will always need you but there social life takes over and your not # 1 to hang out with anymore. So! I have not been on the dating sin for about 10 years and about to be 37 (was a young mom, married young too) I do not know what to do, act like to attract, or have a conversation with a guy. If you smile or are nice they think you want to sleep with them. Ho! and can a get a guy that is my age to talk to me, I get all this young guys (not a cougar). Where do you go to meet a nice guy your age now and days and are there any out there. What do I do if I meet one??? Help, I would like someone to take me out dancing or to the movies or dinner sometime.

What can I do next?

I feel you...I'm a single mom about to be 35 and I feel like I won't have a life until they are out of the house. A lot of people do the online thing, I'm just weary of that...but because I don't get out much with all the kids activities I might have to try it.

Always be yourself and don't settle.

If you don't mind let us know how it goes!

I feel your pain, it is very difficult to find a good man at our age! You might try meetup.com. It has all kinds of groups that may help you get back out in the "social scene" without the pressure and focus of dating. There are groups all over Houston and cover everything from singles to movie groups to dining out groups and every thing in between. Good luck!

There are things you know you want in a longterm "friendship" and
some things you know you don't. Be keenly aware of what takes priority for you to maintain an honest relationship. Be especially thoughtful of
deal breakers, also: ie, Religion, cleanliness, humor, kindness, a good
role model for your kids, ability to provide (motivation), secutiy level,
habits. It's your list. Make a mental list and prioritize.
I heard a good rule of thumb once: If on a first date or early in a
friendship, awareness of a deal breaker should be treated thusly,
a deal breaker.
Get outta there before his attributes make you, TEMPORARILY, forget about his major lackings. Good luck.
