Ok ladies I need some ideas! We like to get our daughter's male teacher a nice gift. He has been the best teacher she has ever had and has been such an inspiration to her. She struggled from K-3rd grade with reading but something this teacher said or did has turned our 4th grader into a book worm! We use to have to fight her every night to get to read because she just hated it. She use to have extra classes during school, after school and summer school just to get her caught up to where she was suppose to be and this year she has just flurished! There are time we have to beg her to put the book down because we want her to do something or go to bed. So we would like to get him something special and meaningful but I have no clue. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for the great ideas. We ended up getting a gift card for Barnes and Noble and my daughter and I both wrote him a nice note thanking him. Thanks again and hope everyone has a good summer.

What about a 2 fold gift....

A small token of "best teacher" on something from a store like Things Remembered as well as a bag of chips and a jar of fancy salsa...

I am a teacher too, and in this case, I think maybe a giftcard to barnes and Noble would be nice. We always love that!

I think the most meaningful gift you can give him is a nice hadwriten card from you and your daughter telling him how much he has helped her this year. Of course a gift card to anice resturant or coffee shop would also be greatly appreciated.

I am a teacher myself, and I always get gift cards for my kids' teachers. I often get them for Barnes & Noble. Most teachers could pick out books, movies or music for themselves or their classrooms. A gift card along with a handwritten card would be a great gift!

My teacher friends always need classroom supplies (which they spend a lot of of personal money on), so a gift certificate for books would be a perfect match for what this teacher has done for your child.

Giftcard...I always do it because every teacher who has more than 3 years under their belt has received frames, momentos, and apple themed items. Get a giftcard to Target, a local gas station, Barnes & Noble, or even Amazon.com are great for men. Also they can use it for anything. Teachers spend a ton of their own money enhancing their classrooms or subject matter, a giftcard can help offset some of that.

Being a teacher I know that some of the best gifts I have been given have been notes that students have written for me. I would also agree that a gift certificate is also a great idea. I love to get Barnes and Noble cards because I can use them for books for my classroom, for me, or for my daughter.

If you want something a little more personal than just a gift card, I would highly recommend the book Thank You Mr. Falker by Patricia Polocco. It would be perfect for this situation! It is the author's own personal story about how she really struggled with learning to read until she had Mr. Falker for a teacher. I have read it a million times and still have to fight the tears.

I'm a female teacher. Get him a gift certificate for a restaurant, golf course, movie theater, amusement park, or for something else he may enjoy.

Congrats on your daughter's progress!!!

I agree as well. A nice handwritten card expressing the same things you spoke of in your question. Maybe even add a nice book or a GC to a book store to go along with the reading theme.

Gift certificates work well for any teacher, then they can choose something they like: restaurants, Target, Walmart, movie theatres, museums, plays, etc.

Why not ask him if there is anything that he needs or would like to have contributed for classroom use? Many teachers provide some of the supplies and books that the kids use and I'm sure he would absolutely love it if a parent would help out so that he won't have to buy so much out of his own pocket for next year. That way you'll be sort of paying it forward so to speak, helping him to help future students as much as he helped your daughter!

I think a gift card to Borders (or any Bookstore) is a great gift. He could use it personally or for the classroom. Especially since he was an inspiration to your childs new love for reading. Maybe a gift card to a teacher supply store or something specific he may want for his classes. Teachers spend money out of their own pocket so often this might especially be a nice treat.
