Chamberlain Adult School offers an online GED program. The administrator is Linda Peterson and her phone number is ###-###-####. She can also give you information on other reputable Adult School programs in the area. By-the-way, Chamberlain has a unremarkable pass rate for their GED program.

Check with Hillsborough County Schools. They will lead you in the right direction if you feel you need the classes. Otherwise there are books at the Library to prep for GED testing.

Penn Foster is the only one that I know of that is actually accredited. I do Admissions for a Private College and we accept them. Also, if you are over 18 you may be able to sit the test without taking any classes at your local testing center. GOOD LUCK! it is a great accomplishment, good for you!

Back in Sarasota in 2001.....I just went and took a test in one day......of course i had just dropped out, but it was so easy.......
No prep courses, you can get a book about the test to help you study.....

Hi G., GED tests are $40 and you can go to the career center to take it. If you feel you need to review that's fine but it's easier than you think. It took me 10 years to do mine out of fear to fail and when I took it I was like that's it! The hardest was 2 geometry questions. Other than that it was reading and then answering from the paragraph and in the math 5 on division, multiplication and algebra ?'s. You can take out a ged book at any library and practice. I was so surprised when I opened the letter and happy that I passed. Remember your not trying to ace it just pass it. I then got the learning bug, got some computer classes all free at the career center, also interviewing, resume etc. Well in all I took 2 months to turn my life around and now 1 year and half later I will be graduating from college with an associate in science and thinking about a bachelor's. Time goes so quickly and the best part is your not thinking about all your problems. It's almost like everything falls into place. I also have 3 kids and found them a early learning center to go to. They (4c) help you pay for it if you work 20-40 hours a week and you could be self employed like services from your house or selling something. Good Luck and go for it your new life is waiting!

My daughter dropped out of school 20 years ago. The Hillsborough County Floriida School system has students take a test to see what areas they need to study. This is very helpful. My daughter was amazed that she only needed to study a couple of subjects instead of the three years she missed. She had her GED in 2 months, even though she has two kids and is a working mom.

If you go to PTEC in St. Pete and take the pre exam there. They allow you to do it online. Good luck!!!

Try your local library - they have GED Books, a quiet place to study, childrens story times to distract the kiddos, and many offer classes to help you prepare for the exam. Also - most librarians are thrilled to help in any way they can. That's great that you are going for your GED. It's not as bad as you think....
