I'm looking for fun, creative, unique, inexpensive (or free) date ideas. My husband is a full time student and works full time. I'm at home with my two little ones. We are dirt poor and have no time, but it's still important to get out and have a break now and again, What something fun you've done, or want to do?

Thanks ladies.

Most towns have a farmers market nearby. Go browse together! Often there is live music. You don't have to buy anything, but if you have a few bucks there are always good treats. The Cache Valley Gardener's Market is every Saturday morning and is one of the best I have been to.

You could also go mini golfing, bowling, hiking.

Logan canyon has First Dam which is a beautiful picnic spot. Also the Wind Caves are nearby, a great hike and you can picnic at the top and see the entire canyon. Breathtaking!

A lot of parks in Utah do free concerts. Pioneer Park has a free concert series, also some coffee shops have live music. The Gateway in SLC is a great place to do outdoor shopping, listen to live music, play in the fountains.

Go to a lake for a day trip. No money there. Pack a picnic and a frisbee.

Disc golfing (if you have the discs).
A picnic to a park (sandwiches and chips).
Bowling (you can get it during the day for like $2-3 a game).
Get rid of the kids (if there are any) and cook together, thats one of our fave things to do.. then you can have a glass of wine and cuddle up on the couch for a movie and.. you know whatever. :)

1. Go for a hike together.

2. Game night with other couples (like a double date). You could hire one sitter for all the kids and split the cost (pay her well so she'll babysit for you again!) make some brownies or something and play board games or card games together!

3. Put the kids to bed and watch a movie together (from Redbox for $1 or do a moive exchage with other couples, you loan them some DVDs and they loan you some.) Have some microwave popcorn or other cheap snacks.

4. Read a good book together. This one sounds kind of weird, but there are a few books that my husband and I took turns reading out loud to each other (Harry Potter was a fave!) It is fun if you both like the book and only have one copy to share. I liked doing silly voices! Then you can talk abotu the story and what you think will happen next, etc.

5. Look into free events in your area, esspecially through the university your hubby attends. Shakespeare in the park, free summer concerts, evening art walks downtown, etc. Look in your local newspaper, the university web site, and ask locals who have been there forever and know about community events.

6. And as they say, making love is free!

Do you have someone who will watch the kids for free for just a few hours, or even better, the entire night?

- Make him dinner
- Oral sex ( free and gets him every time)
- Is there a park nearby? Take him on a picnic
- Is he into cars? Car shows are hot this time of year
- A trip to a museum or art show

It's a little too late for this but you can put it on your calendar for next year. I recently went to the end of season production of the Grassroots Shakespeare Company. I saw them in Provo but I know they do tour. The shows are donation only except for the last night that was only $7 for 3 plays. I really enjoyed it. I don't know Shakespeare very well so I was hanging on every word to understand it but it was funny.
