A friend is coming to visit for a weekend and we would like to take a one-time cooking class either in the city or north suburbs. Does anyone know of any good ones?

You should check into Kendall College...I have been there for a cooking class a couple of years ago. Also the Chopping Block in Lincoln Sqaure, & the Wooden Spoon on Clark Street in Andersonville.....Good Luck!
My Stepmom went to Marshal Fields downtown on State Street and she loved it. Its more like going to see Emeril. THe Chef prepares the food for you and takes you step by step and even asks for volunteers to help. Once he is done, you sit down and eat what has been prepared with wine and dessert. It is about $65 but she said it is worth it!!
There is a Cooking place on Armitage, east of Clybourn. I am so sorry but I cannot remember the name at the moment. Cooking Fools might be another option (in bucktown, I think). Sur La Table also has classes. As well as Calphalon (randolph) I think. good luck. have fun.
The Chopping Block offers one time cooking classes and is lots of fun. There is one in Lincoln Square and one in the Merchandise Mart.

I have taken classes at Calphalon cooking school on Washington in the West Loop. Some are interactive, some are just lecture. I have also heard good things about the Chopping Block. I think they have several locations. Both have Web sites.
