Anyone know the best areas in Chicago to go trick or treating. I want my child to get a good experience and get a chance to go to a variety of houses, but am not sure where they actually hand ot candy in the city. Does anyone know if they hand out candy in Lincoln Park?

What can I do next?

The Lakewood-Balmoral Historic area is great. It's full of families and kids. This is the area of single family homes between Glenwood and Broadway, and Foster and Bryn Mawr in Andersonville.

Why don't you talk to your neighbors or organize something in a neighborhood with one of the friends of your kids if they don't do it in your neighborhood? Generally neighborhoods with kids and houses that are decorated is a good bet.

Not sure where you are looking to travel to, but I am on the southwest side in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood; lots of single family homes, kids, good people and great candy!

Burling street in Lincoln Park, just north of Fullerton, is the place to go. The whole block gets really into decorating and does it up big time. Trick or Treating there starts around 4 PM tomorrow.

The neighborhood right around barry and damen (just south of roscoe village) is great at halloween time. lots of families with young kids out and many lavishly decorated homes. i lived there the past two halloweens and it was such a blast!
this year, we're trick or treating in our new neighborhood (lincoln square) and they're actually closing our block to traffic, which is nice. i'm hoping our new neighborhood is just as fun.
good luck and have fun.

We've been doing it in the Gold Coast area for the past few years, between Division and North Ave, all along Clark, Dearborn, State, Astor and other streets. Your kids get candy (given out by butlers with white gloves); you get to admire their mansions. Some homes have elaborate decorations and cocktails/ snacks to adults. You can even visit our cardinal's home, where nuns come out and wave at you..

Then there is a park on the corner of Goethe and Astor (in that same area) which is decked out in decorations with lots of holiday happenings (actors in costumes doing tricks, singing, whatever.. )

Finally, last year Chipotle was giving out a free burger to everyone who had foil as part of their costume (so, people literally just put a piece of foil on their arm and got a burrito...). Don't know if they are doing the same thing this time...

I live in Portage Park and there are blocks and blocks of houses to hit around the park. I think we had about 75 kids come to our house last year. It starts about 4 for the little ones, and goes until about 8pm.

I live on the northwest side of the city right on the border of Park Ridge. It is a great old neighborhood. We get hundreds of kids each year especially becuase my neighbor next door turns his garage into a haunted hosue. It is really fun. Stop by our neighborhood. 2 blocks west of Resurrection hospital on Talcott. Take talcott west of harlem to Overhill ( 2 blks west of Oriole). Make a left onto Overhill. Overhill bends and turns into Norwood. My neighbor is right on the bend. We have hundreds of kids that come from all over every year to see his house. Hope this helps. If you come stop by our house. 7667 w norwood.

Hi N.,

I know the area around Wrightwood park (lincoln park) gets tons of children. The people really decorate and get into there.

Good luck

The businesses on Southport Ave have trick or treating for the kids. You can find it on line. It's during the day.
