I have a friend visiting from New York City with her 15 month old little girl the weekend of March 30-31. I thought that it might be fun to take her and my 9 month old to a few sites around town. I am very new to the area and have not really gone any where except the Tampa Zoo. Can any one make a recommendations? Do you know of an Easter Egg hunt going on that weekend? Thank you for your help!

What can I do next?

I dont know if you'd be open to coming down to Sarasota on the 31st... Palmer Ranch is putting on a HUGE Spring Fest March 31st & April 1st. It will run from 10am-4pm on both days, and I believe they will have an easter egg hunt there with TONS of other family activities. While you're down here, you could also take them to Siesta Key beach (my personal favorite beach in Fl), go for a stroll around St.Armands circle or the Marina Jack park, etc... If you havent been here, its a really beautiful town and is only 45 mins from St.Pete.

Just an idea. Hope you find what you are looking for and all of you have a blast!!!!

My first thought was the zoo, but you have that covered. Other than that, I would plan on hitting a park. This area is full of beautiful parks. And that time of year is usually very nice. When my kids were babies, they loved the parks. We'd go and feed the ducks. They loved the baby swings.

Check out tbo.com for "things to do." You might be able to find an Easter egg hunt there. Or you might find something else you're interested in doing.

okies, as an owner of a local playgroup, I have a lot to offer for ideas. First, the local egg hunts are not listed quite yet, but last year they were not doing any Easter Egg hunts that weekend. The Regency Mall did do a breakfast with the Easter Bunny, tho...so you may want to look into that. Some other ideas are:
*Toddler Town-http://www.toddlertownonline.com/
*Ollie Koalas-http://www.olliekoalas.com/flash/welcome.html
*I second the Jax Zoo-http://www.jaxzoo.org/home.asp
*All the libraries, Barnes and Noble and Borders have storytimes that are age appropriate
*Here you will find a nice list of local parks-http://www.coj.net/Departments/Parks+and+Recreation/defau...
*Kids Kampus- also known as Metro Park--http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/detail/?loc_id=1908&a...

I hope some of these have helped.....

The Jax zoo is really a great zoo, I would totally recommend that! Also, I know the kids are definitely too young to fully appreciate MOSH, but it certainly would keep them entertained looking at things! The other thing that's really awesome downtown is the childrens' section at the new Jax library is AMAZING.

Have fun!

I'm not sure what part of town you live, but here's a few places that are great for your children's ages:

*Kid City Children's Museum, Tampa
*Florida Aquarium, Tampa-next to Port Authority and Channelside
*Gymboree Play & Music, Tampa
*My Little Playtown, Largo (0-5 years Open Play, Music and other classes offered)
*Great Explorations Children's Museum, St. Petersburg
*The Pier, Downtown St. Petersburg (they have family entertainment on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, plus their Aquarium)
*Ultimate Party & Playzone (indoor play place and also has a bunch of Inflatables/Jump houses and slides), St. Petersburg
*Playtime Express, St. Petersburg (has Music with Mar classes and other great 0-6 year old activities and Open Play hours)
*Saftey Harbor (near Clearwater) has an annual Easter Egg Hunt and other Family activities-not sure the details, but you can find it online through the pinellas county calendar.

Also, don't forget to always check ParentGuide.com because they host a bunch of Mommy & Me activities throughout Tampa Bay and also post a monthly calendar of happenings around town geared for families.

Hope this helps!

I don't live in your area, but my mom does and I visit her quite regularly in New Port Richey. I have a 3 year old and am always looking for somethings to do. Here are some that might interest you.

* Great Explorations Museum **TOP PICK**
* Squkids Fitness (On 54 in New Port Richey)
* MOSI (Museum of Science and industry)

You would have to look up the exact addresses, but they are all a lot of HANDS ON fun!!!

Try taking the children to the aquarium, it's a great place to go and look at sea cretures and even get to touch a few. MOSI is a great place too, they have an area just for young children including a place called the Crawlers Club. It's a fabulous area for toddlers and babies to crawl on soft objects and look in mirrors and place with toys that make noise. There is also a park near Safety Harbor that is on the bay and has a playground for younger children. I hope some of these places help and if you need help finding any of them send me a message!

Kid City Children's Museum on North Boulevard http://www.flachildrensmuseum.com/About%20Museum.htm and The Florida Aquarium (if it is warm)in downtown Tampa http://www.flaquarium.org/ have great offerings for kids. Al Lopez Park http://www.tampagov.net/dept_Parks/application_files/park... on Himes just north of Raymond James Stadium has a really cool castle playground. Enjoy your visit. You can probably check the city of Tampa website for Easter egg hunts
