Fleece Blanket Teacher Gift?

I just heard about a sale at my local fabric store on fleece. I was thinking of going there this evening with the kids and letting them pick out some fleece and then helping them make blankets (double sided, the kind with knots) for the teachers - Would that be a nice appropriate gift. Kids are 8 and 10, both teachers are female, one of them I know pretty well.

What do you think? Everyone likes a nice cozy blanket right?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I do relize it is kind of a personal gift, but my kids have been going to this elementary school (son) for 6 yrs, including K and I feel like I know them a little and they know me and our family. DD 3rd grade teacher was also my DS 3rd grade teacher, so I've know her for 2yrs. And DS current 5th grade teacher is very nice and the "cool" teacher so I think she will like one as well. Thanks everyone!

I like the idea, especially if you know the recipients well enough to think they might enjoy it. I have one my mom made for me years ago and it is ALWAYS in my van and I use it for hockey games and baseball games in the early spring. They wash well.

I think it's a lovely gift - personal (but not too personal) and the kids can help. Teachers deserve every little thing we can give them. They are far overworked and underpaid. I think that is a great idea!! Buy an extra yard of fabric, and cut two circles out, tie the knots around 3/4 of the way, stuff it, then finish tying the knots, and you have a matching pillow! Good luck -

I personally thought they would be too personal, but since everyone else so far likes the idea I guess it's a good idea. I make them for my grandkids and other relatives, even have requests for them, they love them!

I like this idea. At first, I was thinking of myself and all of the blankets we have around our house and I wasn't sure...but then the more I thought about it, I liked it. If the teachers have an abundance of blankets at home, maybe they can keep it at school. It might be a nice addition to the classroom library for kids to snuggle in while they read or for the teacher to cuddle in if they have a cold or are chilled after escorting kids to recess. A thoughtful gift and I especially like that the kids get to be a part of it! :-) I also like the idea of adding a tag (or maybe get them embroidered) stating who it is from.
