On the new facebook, you have that continuous feed on the upper right side. Then there's your news feed on the left. I feel like there are a bunch of people I don't see a lot of the time, and when I go to their wall, it indeed seems that they have been posting things.

So, what do you do in order to get all the posts people have posted?

Does that make sense? I'm not that good at this stuff.

What can I do next?

Click the little arrow next to their name, there is an option to subscribe to all updates, most updates, or only important ones.

I've discovered the same thing and am in agreement with everyone who is bummed. :(
Since a few people here mentioned not getting notifications - I will share that that is ONE thing I was able to figure out! lol
1. Click the little arrow next to "HOME"
2. Go to "ACCOUNT SETTINGS"
3 (on the left) go to "NOTIFICATIONS"
4 Right at the top there is a box to uncheck specifying only special emails. If you uncheck it - you get notifications the way you use to.

Subscribe to ALL of each of your friend's updates by clicking the little arrow next to their name, choose the option to subscribe to all updates, that should help some, but with the feeds I find I'm still missing loads. I can't stand the new FB changes, and unfortunately there's still a biggie to come, though I hear it's not too bad, we'll see.

I am missing so much from my friends and family now, and personally I think FB's goal is actually to make us interact less with everyone else :-/

I installed a widget from betterfacebook.com (I think it was) to change sFB's new layout. I still miss things but not AS much.

I love the new feed and am looking forward to the further changes coming in the next few weeks.

Hover your cursor over your friends name, do not click on it, when the box comes up hover over "subscribed" then un-click everything except the option of "Most Updates" and "Status updates". This way you'll see most of their posts. If you click "Photos" you will get their posts on EVERY picture they comment on, their friends, their friends friends, etc....only click "Status updates".

I actually skip this page and use the "Lists". I went through and made lists of My close friends, this is everyone I enjoy reading each and everything they post. Mostly my BFF's and people that are entertaining. Then I selected all my family members and made a Family list. Then I made lists of my friends and named the the game name. Like FarmTown, I have everyone on that list that actively play. They do play other games and I see those posts in this list too. I enjoy catching some of those posts too since we often play the same games.

Once you make your lists then you can bypass the first page and all the mess it is. It is much more fun to scroll through posts that are similar in content and see everything.

Just a note to everyone using FB. If you are subscribed to more than their status updates you will see EVERYTHING they do, if they comment on some friends picture, you'll have that post on your feed, if they tell someone they should take an asprin for a headache, you'll see that other friends posts too.

It is way too much information people!!! Don't do it. Uncheck everything except their status updates. I thought, Well, I want to see all their game posts, I want to see their pictures when they post them, those boxes are NOT referring to their own posts but their comments on other peoples posts of that sort. I can tell you I got very tired of seeing posts like where my cousin Ralph commented on some truck drivers picture of his cleaned motor in his rig....

you have to subscribe to all their stuff to get all their stuff. I think you get the option next to their name when you open the friends list.

The same thing is happening to me. I see updates from maybe 5 people out of my list of 185. I am "subscribed" to all of my friends, but I am still not seeing everything. I went to the Facebook Help section, but when I click on people's questions there that seem pertinent to what I want to know, I am blocked from seeing anything. Bottom line, this weekend I'm going to sit down and figure out Google+. From what I've heard, a lot of people have defected to Google+ in the last couple of weeks due to all these lame changes with Facebook. It's too bad, because I liked Facebook the way it was, and now it's ruined.

ETA: Okay, I think I figured it out! Here's what I did: go to your profile, and on the left hand side, click on "subscriptions." A new screen comes up that has two tabs - one of them is friends. Click on that. Then a list of your friends comes up with a button to the right of their names. For each friend, go through and click on "all" under their updates (it defaults to "only important updates" or "most updates" or something, but this seems to suppress almost everything from my experience). Anyway, once you've gone through and clicked on "all updates," you should begin seeing a more normal news feed. Granted, it's still separated into the annoying "top news," "recent news," and "older posts" or whatever, but the updates will appear, at least. Also, if you have friends who play a lot of games and post tons of annoying stuff about their games, now you do have the choice (under the same drop-down button next to their name) to un-click "games" so you will no longer see it every time they do something on Farmville or whatever. At least that's ONE good thing about the "new" Facebook. (I still don't love it though. Hmph.)

Gamma G did a good job of describing the new functions.

For those of you who are thinking of defecting to Google+, the new FB features were mostly copied from Google+...
