Tell her to go to the eye Dr.. I wear contacts and I have had the same problem.. I would cry in the sun.. I couldn't open my eyes and they would water like crazy.. She might have a scratch on her cornia.. They will give her drops and she won't be able to wear her contacts for a couple days but I rather go without for a couple days than suffer.

H.,
Send here to an eye doctor to make sure it is not anything serious. I had the same thing. I actually had a scratch on my eye. My doctor recommended that I keep my contacts out for a few days & he gave me antibiotic drops. I cleared up pretty quickly. It kept coming back & the doctor said it was from my eys being so dry, that it was causing the scratches. So now I use (Preservative free) lubricating drops daily & have been fine since.

a few months ago, renu eye solutions put out a bulletin that something in the solution was causing lots of serious eye problems and they recalled solutions made during certain dates.

i would definately ask your sister if she was using ReNu solutions and if she was, to seek help. at least look on a renu website to see what the symtoms and problems were.

I did have that happen to me before, all it was is I needed to get a new pair of contacts mine were old the kind I got was supposed to be thrown away every 6 months! I tried to keep them longer and what you said above started to happen. I did minor damage to my eye by wearing that pair longer than 6 months and had to stop wearing contacts for about a year (wore glasses) .After that time period my eyes were fine and I was allowed by my dr to wear contacts again.

I googled her symptoms and didn't come up with anything, but it could be an infection, or a problem with her contact lens. Regardless, it sounds like something where she should stop wearing her contacts and get to an eye doctor asap. (better safe than sorry) Even the optometrists at mall eye places like For Eyes and PearleVision will be able to tell her if it is a severe problem and give her a referral if necessary; plus they take walk-ins. I would go today if they are open. I have done this in the past when I had strange eye problems and it worked out fine. If she has medical insurance, she should take the insurance info with her, eye exams for non-glasses/contacts situations are often covered.

Please tell your sister to call her doctor. It could be some kind of infection or other condition. Most likely, it is something simple. I have a lot of allergies and they do not recommend I wear contacts because of it. The contacts can hold the allergens in against your eye aggravating the eye. Another possibility is that she got a piece of dirt or debris in her eye. She may have a scratch on her eye causing the symptoms. If that is the case, the contact could again be making the symptoms worse and could be keeping the eye from healing properly. The best thing to do is calm her down and make an appointment for her to see a doctor that can check her eye for her.

Good luck.

sometimes the internet can be more harmful then good. the computer is not a doctor. she should go to the eye doctor for a real diagnosis. I have eye allergies I was perscribed eye drops that I put in twice a day and my symptoms cleared up. there have been a few recalls on the saline saloutions. she should talk to the eye doctor on which one would work best for her. some of the saline saloutions work better then others. my eye doctor recomended aquify. also she may need a different contacts the ones she has may not be letting enough air pass threw the lens to keep the eye hydrated.
