Hi moms - I'm a work at home mom, and my brain is kinda full. I want to help teach my kiddo the appropriate stuff, and would like to find some age appropriate kid shows to watch with him - things that will give ME ideas to help him learn stuff as my imagination is kinda pooped out.

Any recommendations for shows and where/when I can find them? We have Time Warner Cable.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Do you have the Noggin Channel? It's commercial free, preschool appropriate shows. I like Blue's Clues best. And staring in about a week, The Fresh Beat Band should be cute...lots of dancing and singing. It makes me want to dance and sing too!

Look, there really is no such thing at this age. TV at this age is for the mommy, not the kiddo. I know you want a break though and I can totally relate. You might consider PBS (no commercials). Otherwise, I'd say to invest in some blocks, duplos or a train set. Even play-doh is great. Any unstructured playtime is educational at this age (or any really). It allows them to use their imagination, develop motor skills, learn to play alone, etc. Don't think that you have to pop in a video to get a break or for your child to learn. My son would stay focused for at least an hour playing with these things. It allowed me to get stuff done and take a break.

Hi P.. I have an almost 24 month old son and we only allow him to watch the Sprout Channel. We too have time warner cable and it should be channel 130. There are a ton of age appropriate educational shows that we love and my son loves as well.

I LOVE PBS/KERA channel 13. Supper Why is AWSOME, So is Word World. They really do have some amazing shows and games and activities online as well, for kiddos and parents. Diseny TOO! They have little excerpts for things you can do at home and also have a great online site. Ze Fronk is a show about cooking and they give you simple things you can do, like make strawberry smoothies, just like he did. Noggin is great too! I dont think we get that channel but is always on at the pediatricians office and they do not have commercials!
